I have checked boards and saw that the "APN Empty" issue may be the root, but am a bit
scared to do anything that invasive...any ideas?
I can connect to Wi-Fi w/ no problem, just no connection to mobile networks. (the 3G/4G icon
at the top doesn't appear). Signal strength is fine and calls are handled without problems.
I'm having the same problem. Just started yesterday (8/17) - email not refreshing, not able to connect to FB, games, internet or market. Also had calls dropping.
Make sure your SIM card is well inserted. next check to see that packet data is enabled by going to settings/wireless and newtorks/mobile networks/Use packet data. and make sure is checked. Last thing you could try is to get you APN to its default settings by going to settings/wireless and networks/mobile networks/Access Point Names. Hit the menu button on your phone then tap on "Reset to default". If all this don't work then your SIM Card might be damaged or what are the chances that a T-Mobile tower might be down.....
Smokey, thank you for your help on this matter. I was having the same problem as the original message posted. I tried exactly what you said on the APN. Even though my APN was set as the default I still did what you mentioned to do with reseting it back to default and it seems to have helped some. My internet usage is till extremely slow but it is actually working some. I did check my account usuage to see if I was over the 5 gig alloted for the month but I am not. Not sure exactly what is happening with this phone but over the last couple of months I have been having alot of problems with the phone and so if a friend of mine that has the same phone. I am wishing now I would have gone with the EVO instead of the galaxy.
what is wrong with this phone. i have tried every thing and i still get the not register on network message when i try to use my phone
anybody else having problems with their phone
I'm not a techie; nor am I a master of my Galaxy. That said, I had this problem. I turned the phone off. Waited a full minute. Turned phone back on. Rebooting worked for me.
my does the same thing urghhhh!
Smartphones are like a mini computer with the ability to make calls and use network data. Just like a computer, you need to periodically refresh your phone. Simply turning off the device and powering on is all that is need. Allows phone to refresh your signal. I usually do a power off and on every other day.
Of course, you need to have your settings set to accommodate the network.
If the T-Mobile network is actually having issues, this can also affect your phone, but for the most part refreshing is all that is needed.
I have two Samsung Galaxy S's on my account and both of them were having this problem. Tech support asked me to have the users restart the phone every night. That seemed to work for one of the devices but the other just continued to have the problem. TMobile replaced that phone but the nightmare is back for the other phone again. I'll call tech support again today to see what else I can try. I've also tried taking the SIM out and resetting it. Of the 5 smartphones on my current account I must say the two Samsung Galaxy S's are my least favorite. The mytouch and LG phones haven't had a problem yet....HTC sensation is working great soo far but I'll hold off reviews on that one until I have it for another month.
My phone keeps saying no mobile service or emergency use only. I didn'y you all were having the same problem. It is either the Galaxy or T-Mobile. T-Mobile has really gone downhill this year in service. I'm major disappointed.
My phone said not registered when I tried to make a call but the area code was registered because I had no problem calling it the day before, also could not get internet use. I removed my battery and made sure memory card and sim card were seated, replaced battery and it seems to have worked.
I Have the same problem with my Galaxy S 4G. Periodically throughout the day, I will have no service. I will have to turn off the phone and back on. TMobile has recently sent me a replacement phone of the same type, I am still having the same issues. Makes me wish I would have stayed with the 3G Galaxy S I had before. I had no problems at all with that phone! I have never thought about changing companies, but now it is seems like a pretty good idea. I would expect this with a **** prepaid phone service! But not from a good company like Tmobile! Very P.O.ed about this!!!!
Have you tried holding the power button down and making sure the (mobile data connection) is turned on? then restart the phone.
omg this phone is not working ive tried everything everyone has said n it still doin the same dam thing
