Can T-Mobile tell us when:
No word yet on these updates, as soon as we receive information regarding new software we'll update the Software Overview for the Nokia Lumia 521: Software version: Nokia Lumia 521.
The software for T-Mob is current, but the Windows 8 OS version is behind.
Current OS version is 8.0.10211.104 and the latest Win 8 Mobile OS released by Microsoft on July 12, 2013 is: 8.0.10327.77. This means it was released to the carriers on that date, but I believe T-Mob has to test it to make sure it is fully compatible before we can have it. As of 8-5-2013 it is still not available on the 521. I do not have access to the 925 for testing.

Google accounts. Windows Phone 8 now supports the CardDAV and CalDAV protocols that allow people to sync Google contacts and calendar information when they get new phones. (Existing phones that are synced to a Google account prior to December 31, 2013 will continue to sync as before.)
Xbox Music. It's now easier to select, download, and pin music. Plus, music fans will see more accurate metadata (such as song and album information) and many other performance improvements.
FM radio. Listen to FM radio right from the Music+Videos hub. (Not available for all phones.)
Data Sense. Stay on top of your phone's data usage with Data Sense. You can set a limit based on your data plan, or just keep track of which apps use the most data. (Not all mobile operators offer Data Sense.)
Skype. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) apps like Lync and Skype now feature improved stability and performance.
Internet Explorer. Several fixes, including improvements to media playback reliability, will make your web browsing experience better than ever.
Camera. Set your favorite Lens so it opens automatically when you press the camera button. (Not available for all phones.)
Other improvements. Includes many other improvements to Windows Phone.
*Your update version number depends on your specific phone model and mobile operator.
Do you have any further news for this yet?
Any idea when we can expect the update to be pushed to our phones?
Pretty sad that everyone believed that WiFi calling was going to be free and isn't, now TMO is lagging behind ATT on Nokia updates?
Smartphone owners love upgrades, just ask the apple crowd.
Hey TMO get it gear and finish the testing. I want the new features and so do a lot of others!!!!!!!!!
It is free... You don't pay extra to use it.
Directly from Nokia's site, posted on 8-15-2013 states that most phones will see the "Amber" update by the end of September - the 521 is included in the discussion.
Also, according to this Nokia Support page here: http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-north-America it is available for the 521 phones on T-Mobile (also avail for the older 810 phones as well). My phone is currently downloading an update right now.
Got it last night manually.
Finally finished the update as well (slow work wi-fi )
New tile for Data Sense
Took about 0.10 GB of phone storage (mine went from 1.5GB free to 1.4)
Has anyone had problems with software update taking a long time? Started update Sunday morning and still have turning gears on my screen. Cannot use phone at all and have to keep it plugged in or the battery goes dead.
My update took about an hour or a little longer due to a slow Wi-Fi connection at work, but at home on better Wi-Fi our other 2 phones were much quicker.
Sounds like the update is hung up somewhere. If it is still hanging, call T-Mobile customer care.
Talked to customer service they said to send it in for replacement
Sent from my LG Mobile
That stinks - when you get a new one back, and IF it doesn't already have the update installed.... Update it while it is plugged in to the wall outlet with at least 50% battery left and make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi. This will help you avoid any further problems with the update.
It does take a little while, so don't panic right away... unless it's been more than 2 hours since the update downloaded. The Amber Update is actually an updated Nokia firmware that's mixed in with the official Microsoft Windows 8 Phone GDR2 update - 2 updates in 1 Hopefully you'll get your new phone soon!
