I know it says on the Specs page that the S4 will run on
Band I (UMTS2100), Band II (1900),
Band IV (1700/2100/AWS), Band V (850).
However on the Samsung US website it says the Tmobile S4 LTE band will run on Band 1/2/4/5/7/17, which correspond to 2100 1900 1700 850 2600 700MHz.
So which one is true? Or both of them are true?
From the information that we have available, it will only run on I, II, IV and V.
Tmobile always buys its phones to be subsets of ATT's LTE bands so they're cheaper.
ATT uses or has spectrum for LTE bands:
While TMO only has spectrum for LTE bands:
No one uses Band 1 for LTE in America
I remembered something: sometimes phones are physically capable of "hidden" LTE bands but they're disabled by the manufacturer.
This is done so they can make one model for a few different countries.
There's a lot more to it than just the radio. There are other hardware that needs to be present and those parts only support certain frequencies. They still have yet to find a one all solution for those parts like radios have recently done.
