I am suddenly only able to connect to "E". Previously connections were 4g/LTE in the same locations. Is there a way to correct this without having to restore again
I have a factory unlocked AT&t iphone 5, on the tmobile plan.
this factory unlocked AT&T iphone does not have the 1700/2100 AWS band to connect to 4G unless your in a reformed area.

My phone has worked with the LTE in my area(pittsburgh) since switching to tmobile. I have the A1428. Yesterday it just started not connecting to it any more. It's very frustrating to not have the coverage that was working one day, be gone the next. Is there a problem with the coverage in the pittsburgh region? If so, i might have to consider other options than tmobile.
Please see iPhone 5 on LTE in Portland? for more information. Try changing the APN to epc.t-mobile.com, and the LTE settings to fast.t-mobile.com. That worked for Mike Truong, the user I helped in that post. If not, please respond to me ASAP and I'll be more than happy to help. Thanks.
Hi Jeff, this morning when i got to work I am back to"E". This is frustrating, and I am seriously debating changing carriers.
Try downloading this hacked carrier update, it works for me and what it does is it connects to AWS towers (the towers that support LTE) instead of PCS towers (Only support EDGE and 4G), whenever available. Probably why your iPhone connects to EDGE is because EDGE has better signal vs. the 4G and 4G LTE towers on AWS.

I am clueless and unable to get this to work on my computer. It's a 64 bit windows. It goes to the itunes folder but i have no clue where to put the 2nd command string. I'm ready to say forget it and find another provider. This is the 2nd week of having this trouble. What's the point of unlimited data if it doesn't connect
So apparently even though it is an a1428, it does not have the clrrect last 4 numbers/letters in the serial number. I have been able to connect to 4g and lte sometimes. Is there anything i can do (since i can't figure out the hack mentioned previously) to get this resolved. Would i be able to trade it in for the correct model iphone, or have i just wasted alot of time and money to try to get this resolved? I'm past my breaking point in dealing with this
Pull ur sim card
Reinsert sim restart phone
I've tried that. Doesn't work. Tried complete restore. I'm just at the point of saying forget apple and tmobile
Just put the second one anywhere.
Probably need a new sim card
Call tech support to have them note ur acct
Then go to store its free
It pulls up a folder and from there i'm lost. Theres no where to put the command. At this point i'm just done with it all
When i try to enter the cd _____ i get an error message. If i try to just enter from the C it pops me i to the itunes program folder and i don't have a command prompt from there. Jeff, i am so frustrated, do you know if this hack will work on one of the earlier(?) a1428 before they added the extra bands for tmobile? I just can't understand why it 4g works sometimes and then i get stuck back on edge. I feel like a tech moron at this point.
