Nokia Lumia 521 Wifi Calling

Short:

I cannot get acceptable cellular reception at home. Got the update for my 521 and enabled Wifi calling but the feature does not work.

Long:

Just started using TMO last month. I tried using my Iphone 4 but I was unable to get service at home and poor reception locally. So I went out and bought the Lumia 521 to see if my reception would improve. In town reception was good and even picked up 4G Data. Unfortunately, reception at my home was unchanged. Even outdoors searching for a signal (like I was a satellite dish ) I can only get one or two bars and 2G data. I found out the 521 was due an update to enable WIFI calling so I decided to hold out and suffer through poor reception at home. Now I have the update on my 521 and Wifi Calling is enabled but it does not work. My first month with TMO has been a nightmare. Someone pls help!

I have the same problem, Installed the update and have Wi-Fi calling enabled, but I cannot make any calls. Two calls to T-mobile has not resolved this Issue, It's very frustrating.

I chatted with CS this morning but was unable to make progress. I was told to call tech support. A couple hours later I tried to make a call and it worked. I don't know how if worked but it did. I have no cell reception but it did connect to cellular for a minute before wifi calling started to work. I have had wifi calling connected all day and have received voice calls and txt msg. This will be my first full day of continuous tmo service since I have been a customer.

I just did a hard reset on my modem and now the Wi-Fi calling Is working, A soft reset of both the modem and router I did yesterday and earlier today had no effect on the Issue.

I was having the same problem. If you pin the app to your home screen and increase the size of the tile it might show a error that says "REG09 Missing 911 Address". in which case follow the instructions from this page, fixed it for me. Hope this helps.

I am a new t mobile customer with a home business . I bought the phone so I could use wifi at home while working. I've tried resetting the modem as suggested above. I've tried setting the 911 info on this site, but the site just says you can't enter the info and try again later. I've tried 25 times in ever conceivable form to get the 911 info to 'take'.

I've used half my minutes for the month up before I realized that it was pulling from plan minutes rather than wifi. I have the phone set to use wifi, but when it's set to wifi only, it says no service. I am logged into my wireless network with the phone and am 3 ft away. It is showing as connected on the phone.

Is there anything I can do to reset the phone or to get the 911 info to go into the system ? The website seems to be broken. Thanks for any help.

I have the exact same issue even after the October Amber update. Calling support is an absolute joke. You will either be told 1) that you are not using a Tmobile SIM card 2) you are using an old unsupported SIM card 3) that this feature is not available for prepaid accounts or 4) That WiFi calling is no longer offered by Tmobile.

Prepaid plans do not have free wifi calling.  All minutes are minutes, whether they're wifi or cellular (at some point you ARE using T-Mobile's network to complete the call... you just may not be using a tower)

I was able to set up wifi calling by setting up my 911 number. At first the site wouldn't take the info. I wound up using the support chat and they were able to enter the 911 address for me. After this, I reset the wifi at home and turned on and off the phone and it eventually started showing wifi calling once I  turned on wifi only.

I added $10 to add more minutes to the plan and then had to add the same amount again and it was using the minutes up at an alarming rate. That with the fact that I made almost no calls away from wifi calling makes me think maybe my internet or messaging, which are supposed to be unlimited are being counted against the money. So I'm wondering if once you use up the plan minutes, you also lose the unlimited texting and data for the rest of the month ? That might account for the unaccountable amount of minute usage.

It says it is using wifi only. Whether it counts as minutes or not, I'm still trying to decide. Thanks for the help ! If wifi isn't available in prepaid, I may switch carriers. Thanks !
