Still waiting for my 3.1 update here... and T-Mobile refuses to take any responsibility. "Updates are coming in waves... just wait and you'll see. Contact Google for a better schedule." Ask for Google's contact info: nada. So frustrating.

This is so ridiculous!!! I'm STILL waiting for the update on both of my tablets...

HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO WAIT!!??

I'm waiting just as long as it takes to release the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.. I'm definitely switching...

I'm so over this stupid tablet...

  • 62. Re: Once you get the update, let everyone else know

Well, here it is, a week later and STILL no update on either tablet..

There is a thread on the LG support forum to manually install the update, but it seems a bit complex.. I don't think I'm willing to try it..

Tried nagging T-Mobile support?  Just in case they might be able to nag Google...

Hi, darnell. Calling in to T-Mobile support will not help expedite the delivery of the update. Check out G-Slate 3.1 OTA Update. We know some customers have not received the update and we are working to understand and resolve that. Sorry for the delay!

Josh, you may be a TMO person, IDK; but according to T-Mobile support as of today, IF you are not on one of their plans, and you pay as needed for data, you now have to go to a store to get the update; there will not be a OTA update for us users that do not have a monthly expensive data plan.. OFF i go hi ho hi ho to the T-Mobile Store.

I'd certainly like to know whether this is true.

  • 67. Re: Once you get the update, let everyone else know

I've had my tablet for a few weeks now (received it after the 3.1 update was already being pushed) and still haven't received any notification.

  • 68. Re: Once you get the update, let everyone else know

35 days  (and counting); still no update. Thanks for nothing , T-Mobile/LG. You're really on the ball, here.

  • 69. Re: Once you get the update, let everyone else know

Back from the store, hi ho...no go.. store manager says that LG is responsible to push out the updates and I should call them. Even gave me a support number to call.  AS i posted before T-Mobile/LG is definately the poorest I have ever had experience with in getting OTA fixes.. seems my comments about Motorola are true.  And I am getting proven that once again T-Mobile could care less and yet another reason not to do business with them.  They made a good product with LG but the failure to support, is an indication to either walk away or never go there. MY slate will reboot right in the middle of running a program, and I had hoped that 3.1 would fix it, well I don't know about that now.. guess next stop is eBay.

I tried the LG route last week. The rep didn't even know they made the Slate. After talking to his super, they passed the buck to Google. I've been a T-Mobile customer for five years and have been happy. This will definitely make me reconsider another contract, however.

  • 71. Re: Once you get the update, let everyone else know

Really. I don't see a reason to not renew my contract over this. My slate runs fine without the update and am happy to have Netflix working so those that are ticked they cant change a few widget sizes or rent movies on YouTube may need to choose their fights more carefully.

Just because your G-Slate works fine without the update, doesn't mean that everyone's does...

My 2 G-Slates constantly have issues (known issues that are fixed with the update) and in some instances are UNUSABLE for what I purchased them for...

Now, in my case, don't you think my frusatration is justified?

    Just my 2 cents...

Ok I think I FORCED mine by following this from another forum:

You manually check for the update:

    1. Install Anycut
    2. New Shortcut
    3. Activity
    4. Hidden Menu (There are a gazillion entries for this, pick the 2ND one. (This means you have a screen with some lines on it, use your finger on one of them and push up to scroll and you will see different things...)
    5. Scroll all the way to the bottom and select OTA Update Test (This will place a shortcut on the screen with a android icon) press it and now you have some options)
    6. Google OTA Update Server Check-in (press this and it should give you a success message)

    7. Press OTA Update Test with Full Package ( it will say there are no updates or you will get a update screen)

I did this for 2 days after the FAIL at the store, There is only 2 ways to get this OTA or the manual way posted on several forums.  So far mine has not rebooted in an application. To enlarge an icon press and hold it till you get a blue line around the icon, release and you can change the size.  I still have not found a way to search inside an email account for key words or information, so if someone knows please pass on. On my mobile you just press the menu key and the keyboard pops up. But on the Slate I cant find anything that works.  The rent movie aps work but since I dont rent its not a big deal for me. Having it not reboot in an app is my key for getting the update. So far I am happy but sad that T-Mobile let us down by pushing this via google.

when in gmail, click the magnifying glass icon at the top right to get the gmail search. Other apps are probably similar (like Kaiten mail).
