Waived activation fee billed on first statement

As others have posted I was charged activation fees and associated taxes on my first bill. Switched 4 lines from AT&T 03/02/2013. I went to my local store because they told me it was same as ordering  online. They assured me at store activation fees were waived for these value plans. Received the first bill, and sure enough, I was charged activation fees plus taxes for the 4 lines. The sad part is today I called customer care and their response is "nothing we can do for you, you need to go or call the store who sold you the sim cards". Really? Very frustating, not a happy new customer here.
