I have the Samsung Galaxy III and I love the phone however my stock messsaging app has been crashing so much ever since of the new Jellybean update (DLJC). I have tried clearing the app data and ram but the problem still persist. I have also did two factory resets in hope that the problem will go away. The app works but sometimes all the conversations/thread would disappear and I can't send messages and the only work around is restarting the phone. I have to restart it 4-5 times a day. Is there any solution? I really don't want to send my phone to Tmobile to get a refurbished replacement. Do you think the next update will solve this solution?
Try wiping your cache:
If the phone is not working correctly, you may need to reset it. Whereas a hard reset deletes all your information, clearing the system cache does not erase any personal data or settings.
To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:
If that doesn't work, is there an app you added about the same time you started having problems? Try removing it for a day to see if that helps.
I'm taking for granted that you are sending texts over the phone radio NOT over wifi, right?
Have you had any trouble with phone calls?
Lastly, try removing your battery, sim & sd card for a minute or two. Good luck; you may need to replace the phone.
the step to take would be to erase the data in the msg app and a master reset did not solve issue i would report this to a rep so we can have an exaple to verify..
but for now maybe you can download a app like sms pro to use until issue is resolved..
can find more help here..
Do you mean GO SMS Pro? She's already tried clearing the messaging app's cache and factory resets, as she said, so wiping the cache partition is the next step.
I wipe cache partition and so far it hasn't crash. Ill post again if it does. Thank you for all your help!
So i thought cache partition would work.. but the problem still persist What else would you recommend??
After you did a factory reset (without adding any market apps to your phone) did the messaging app continue to crash? If so, head for a Tmo store or call customer service because either your sim card or your phone are bad.
hay sweetpeach heres some good info for you..
I don't think the OP said there was any problem during the update process. Just the messaging app is acting up. ttttiiinnaa, have you tried limiting the number of saved messages per thread (Settings > Text message limit)? It's actually recomended you choose a limit less than 100/convesation.
I have my limit at 200 but Ill try that out. Ill let you kmow if it crashes again. Thanks for the reply.
It still crashes. Looks like several other people I know have the exact problem
I think your next trip should include a stop at the Tmo store to recreate the problem for a live audience of Tmo customer service personnel.
Since wiping the cache, and master reset the device with no success, the device does need to be replaced as mentioned above. I am sending you a private message so that we can further assist you with this.
I've been getting the same issues with messaging, did everything mentioned plus erased all messages. I dont really wanna replace the phone, im hoping there is a fix with some software update. Only thing thing that fixes it is restarting the phone.
