Cancel one line from family plan?

Does anyone know if I will be able to cancel one line from my family plan. I recently got a new job with a lot of travel involved and T-Mobile has no service in most of the areas I travel to. I used the customer support chat yesterday and they told me it would be 200 to drop one line. The line I want to drop has never received any upgrades so I don't owe any money on that one. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck with anything like this or am I stuck until December? Thanks I am going to call customer service to see if that gets me anywhere.
