I have the appropriate version of software and see the option under settings. However, when I turn on the Internet Sharing, I don't see the Hot Spot icon coming up on the status bar and also my PC is not seeing the WiFi hot spot created by this Lumia 810. Further, the setup button is not active under this Internet Sharing option for me to change the hot spot name, password etc. Any thoughts on what's wrong and how to correct.
So if you're not seeing the Hotspot icon show up as active, then of course your PC won't find the SSID, or you won't be able to change settings. Sounds like the hotspot is not enabling properly.
Verify that your normal WiFi connection is disabled. I know on the 8X it won't allow you to have the WiFi radio and Internet Sharing on at the same time.
I have tried with WiFi off also. Still the same scenario. For some reason the Settings button under Internet Sharing is disabled though the button is there. Even the default setting for Internet sharing doesn't seem to work. How to get this resolved?
Do you currently have the Hotspot/internet sharing package on your account?

Actually I am currently travelling in India and using local Airtel SIM card with the phone. With the old HTC HD2 I was able to tether using Bluetooth and with this Lumia that's not supported. So, trying to use this Hotspot stuff and is not working.
I am not familiar using it with another carrier. Do they require a plan? Have you reset the device previously?
Yes, I did the resets. The local carriers doesn't require any plans. I was always using the same SIM card with my HTC HD2 to tether via Bluetooth. What's the setup required with TMOBILE, I can try the same with local carrier - I mean not the network settings but any other software configuration required?
I am wondering if using a device as a hotspot is not supported by this carrier. I would recommend getting in touch with Nokia
Toll Free Number:
Download and install Nokia Network setup and run it once you have the forgien SIM card installed. It will properly configure the phone and that should enable Internet sharing on the device.
I had to do the same thing with a Nokia Lumia 900 to get it to properly work with T-Mobile
