Hi, I own a samsung galaxy s2 SHT-T989, and I wonder if the update for jelly bean will be available for this phone and when I got
i'm not trying to be rude here, but it will sound like it.
in the MANY other forum threads asking the exact same thing, which you would have seen if you looked, the answer to this question is WE DO NOT KNOW, samsung and t-mobile have not announced wether or not our version of the phone will or will not get the update, most likely we will not be getting the JB update with our model of the SGS2.
Fwiw, I am running Jelly Bean right now using CyanogenMod 10. And I am quite happy with it.
This will void your warranty if your device is still under warranty.
A terrific set of guides, text and video along with instructions of how to restore the stock rom can be found here:
It IS coming. See this link:
silex, we have the american version for t-mobile, specific model number is T989, the article you posted is for the international (non-american) version i9100, nowhere in that article does it specifically say the T989 will be getting jelly bean.
Jerrya, the question i beleive was will the T989 be getting an official update to jelly bean without root, not a 3rd party mod that requires breaking the factory warranty to root the phone.
I hear you northpm. Like I said it IS coming. I did not say it is here. My point is that if there is an official version of jellybean for any S2 then it will make its way to tmo.
I did some research and found that the international Samsung Galaxy S2 has lower specs then our phone. I dont see why we will not get it. Not only that but I recieved an update in the last couple days through Samsung Kies. This update I am assuming that is getting us ready for the Jelly Bean update. I say that becuase my phone was rooted once I applied the update it took my root access out. This happened when ICS was released for the phone.
has anyone noticed any difference in performance since the last update to ICS?
My GS2 received an update this morning from t-mobile but sadly it was not for Jellybean. Does anyone know what the update was about?

No announcement has been made for a JB update. Any update or breaking news wil be posted here Http://newsroom.t-Mobile.com
I tried cyanogenmod for a few months but battery life was horrible. Also, people told me that they had a hard time hearing me, so I switched back to stock Koodo Rom. It's like the Tmobile Rom but without the bloatware, and it rarely freezes unlike the Tmobile Rom. I'm never buying a phone from Tmobile again because I can't stand the bloatware. I'll just buy an unlocked phone instead.
Hey Tmoble, I've got a suggestion/request/demand/whatever you want to call it.
How about instead of taking months of time to load up all this VIP apps, more for me, and "qik" video chat and any other bloatware garbage, and instead just hand over the samsung OS as soon as it is released. Or, if that is too much to ask of the head Tmo programmer (who seems to be one lazy guy), at least don't make all this bloatware system applications so that we can uninstall them! That's the dumbest thing, very few people use these apps and yet Tmo insists on taking up our battery, data usage, storage space, CPU power, and storage space. If you can't get rid of this, at least don't make rooting void the warrenty, it's the only way to free up your phone for what you actually want to use it for.
