Any update on time the unofficial one has been out for sometime now? I know don't ask for ETA but T-Mobile is so slow like we might get a 910 by 2014 when there an outdated phone.
There hasn't been any official announcement for a upgrade to 7.8. Many user definitely want to see this happen as well. If there is an annoucement we will let you know. You can also keep an eye on newsroom.tmobile.com
Thanks for posting
There is now an official announcement on the Nokia web site:
Now it appears to T-Mobile has to make it available to us.
for the rest of the world, but not for us
I tried the steps in that article and didn't get anywhere. I think the best bet is to wait for T-Mobile to get it out to us. I guess we can continue to try via Zune, put I suspect that nothing will happen until T-Mobile does their part.
I assume blegs was talking about this page:
I tried this morning but didn't get anywhere. I did see one of the commenters said that he managed to get an update on his T-Mo Lumis 710, but he seemed to be the only one. Another said he had contacted T--mo support and they knew nothing about it. It's clearly on a server waiting to go out. I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks if it is rolled out in stages to conserve bandwidth, but it seems like nothing is being done to push it out.
Please get with the program T-Mobile!
looks like not anytime soon , it may take a month for it to be pushed "for locked t-mobile devices" if you are using an unlocked device , the talked about disconnect trick should work okay otherwise do not waste your time unless if you used the lately published windows phone 7.8 force update tool , but its not recommended if you do not know what you are donig.
Anyone here with an unlocked Tmo 710 that can confirm they got the update?
I just ordered a new unlocked one off Ebay and may have it tomorrow. What happened was I decided to get a 710 and T-Mobile monthly account. T-Mobile has been advertising 710's for $200 with a $50 refill card which is a good deal, but they haven't had any in stock. I found a new, locked one on Ebay for a little under $170. My wife liked it so much I ordered another. Someone is selling them new for $183 unlocked which is what I'm expecting.
Will report back upgrade availability after i get it and a microsim.
Wait for T-Mobile to do something right for us customers?
Yeah, like that's gonna happen.
"In response to your concern, we understand that you want to confirm if the Windows Phone 7.8 will be available for Nokia Lumia 710 from T-Mobile. We are sorry to inform you that there are a small number of operators that have chosen not to offer the update to their users.
It is important to recognize that this decision was made solely by the operator and these include the T-Mobile network in the United States."
Yeah according to ordeith's quote, T-Mobile looks to be skipping on the update. Is this true?
If it is, that's really irritating. Part of why I bought the Lumia 710 recently was because I knew I would have the 7.8 update to hold me over until T-Mobile gets a better Windows Phone 8 selection. Virtually EVERY other carrier has already released or is in the process of releasing the 7.8 update to their phones. Why not T-Mobile?
How does T-Mobile expect to remain competitive in the smartphone market if it keeps half-a**ing everything?
Please get us the 7.8 update!
If T-Mobile doesn't release the 7.8 update then I will be finding a new carrier when my contract is up. Now I wish T-Mobile was bought by AT&T.
Just found this page on the Nokia support site. It indicates that, at least at present, there is no update available.
It's interesting that Nokia is still advertising 710 on contract. Is T-Mobile sleazy enough to entice people into contracts with a Lumia 710 that is running an outdated version of Windows Phone? Don't know the answer to that.
But this is why I've gone month to month with a phone that runs on the ATT network also so I could switch to one of the ATT MVNO's.
Hop[efully, it is not true that T-Mobile has not chosen to take part. My phone is also on a month to month plan and I wish to keep it that way with T-Mobile. Hopefully, they will come around.
A comment in this thread from T-Mobile would be most welcome.
What is frustrating about this is that the page from Nokia shows the update available on Canadian carriers and there have been articles and videos posted on the net showing that unlocked 710's from Rogers work perfectly fine on T-Mobile. I almost got one from Negri Electronics, but the sold out before I decided the next day.
My guess (hope?) is that someone from XDA developers will release a Roger's update that can be manually nstalled by T-Mo owners.
