* A note about the Galaxy S3: The phones do have the necessary hardware to be compatible with MirrorLink stereos. However, Samsung has not yet released the app that's needed to interface with the stereo. So, for the time being, the S3 should not be considered compatible.
Why hassle T-Mobile when you need to be contacting Samsung to make their phone compatible.
gtwalling, your close, but didnt read the responses frmo Crutchfield down below. This is the latest news as of a few weeks ago.

Good news! We received word that the Samsung Galaxy S3 should now be compatible with MirrorLink. New phones will have the functionality already included, but there should be a firmware upgrade for existing S3's. Also, the Sony XPERIA will be compatible soon, too
So, basically, I need the firmware update for my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone from T-Mobile. Anyone have any idea what that update will be available?
From all I have read it will be mid to late December. You can follow here.
Samsung Galaxy S3 Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Update Release Status Page [Daily Update]
Thank you for the link. I see, I've heard of Jelly bean but didn't know if it was out yet. I didnt see anywhere on that website if it has the compadible firmware for MirrorLink. Also, Crutchfield didn't mention that Jellybean is needed or would have that update. What they did say was that the newest firmware update that supports MirrorLink is needed. Also, that all the new Samsung Galaxy S3's have the newest firmware and is compadiable with MirrorLink. That a Mirror Link app is not needed.
I have the following:
Samsung Galaxy S3
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: T999UVLH2

But, your saying this is the latest T-Mobile version? Maybe T-Mobile doesnt have the latest version yet...Supposively, I read somewhere that Verizon or AT&T has it already.
You chose the Sony over the Pioneer? I thought for certain you would go with the AppRadio 2 especially after I showed you the video. I guess it's not for everybody. I'm read the Best Buy reviews and most of them are from iPhone users which in my firmest opinion are not tech savvy so that's why the went with Apple products and get frustrated outside of their ecosystem. It works and true enough it's a no frills system and you are dependant on your phone as the hub. Actually it's an extension of your phone just in the from of a radio which is something I've always wanted to do anyway. However your decision as been made. Ok each to his own. Well I'm going to the best buy site to set them straight.
Hey Animaleyez, it is great you took the time to show everyone how that Pioneer works with the Samsung S3. Ive spent some time over at the diycaraudio.com website to explore all options. Sound Quality is utmost priority to me. Being an audiophile and using 24bit FLAC files from HDTracks.com I want to be able to install the best my money can buy. I heard that this particular Pioneer wasn't the greatest for sound quality. I also read that the nwe Sony 701HD is actually designed and made by the same engineers of the Sony ES line. Which was the equilivent of the old Pioneer ELITE line. Also, the new Sony unit is fully integrated unit that all apps work seemlessly once you can get Mirror Link installed and working. Which by the sound of it would be November. Of course, I could just switch to an Apple Iphone5 and get a nice Alphine, Kenwood, Clarion, JVC unit and have all that....
BTW there is a 10 top car stereo reciever thread on that website that list the best of the best. That Pioneer didnt fare very well. But the 1U pioneer 99 got top place.
Yo! got new news from the Samsung forums.

DriveLink is a perfect app for safe, hands free in-vehicle services that really makes a difference in the driving.
The app can either work as Standalone Mode, which is just launched in the smartphone, or as Connected Mode,
which works by connecting to the car's headunit display via MirrorLink(TM).
- To use MirrorLink(TM) service in car using USB, the head unit must support MirrorLink(TM) 1.0.1.
- If MirrorLink(TM) service doesn't work in your smartphone, it is necessary to update a firmware.
- Firmware update availability is depending on mobile operators.
Its all about firmware.....firmware firmware from T-Mobile in the U.S. ouch...when will that happen. I should install this and test it at the car install dealer.
