Can I use a Tmobile sim card with a Walmart Family Plan Concord which is made by T-mobile. I tried it in Walmart with a sim card with no data plan and the sales guy said it wouldn't work. I am thinking that since it is an android, I should try my sim card with a data plan or does that matter?
Hi connie..don't listen to him he's full of shinola. lol...Seriously, I did that very thing. Killed my samsung galaxy s 4g & needed a quick replacement. Walmart mobile is powered by tmobile & all their phones are tmobile branded (it says tmobile on it). As long as the phone is tmobile branded your tmobile sim will work in it. Not a lick of trouble with my concord.
As far as a data plan...if you just want to make phone calls and text messages it doesn't matter..the phone will work for that right out of the box. However youll have to have a data plan if you want to use your phone to browse the web, get email, google play apps etc. Android phones have an initial setup where the system asks you to login to google servers and link your google account (gmail address) to the phone. If you dont have an android plan the google login wont work...and neither will your internet. Dont know what kind of phone you have but since no data plan I'm assuming you dont do much phone browsing anyway. I say go ahead and get the concord if you like it (I like mine...). You can always skip the initial setup and you can always add a data plan later if you decide you want internet and apps.
Hope i could be of some help. Goodnight...Jamie
Hello, Connie and Jamie,
Do either of you know if I do not have a data plan like Connie, can I still use the wifi on the concord to connect to my home internet? If I do connect will it charge me? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Hi..sorry so late..email issues. Anyway if you have a wifi router that you can use to send out a wifi signal from your home internet you can connect. You can buy one at Best Buy, Walmart, almost anywhere. I personally have a wifi mobile hotspot (also through tmobile) and i connect my concord..and my mother's concord..and both my computers to it all the time. I have never manually set up a router before but I know there's a few things you have to know, like IP adresses, etc. Im not sure about charges; T-mobile wont charge for using the phone to connect to your home internet, but your ISP (internet service provider) might charge for using your home web with a router. I'd call them up or go on their website and find out. Good luck.
Hello, sorry for my late response as well! Thank you so much for the information, I have Tmoblie hot spot for my home as well and the Concord is working great with the wifi. I appericate you getting back to me! I have one happy child with a new smart phone. Hope you have enjoying the holidays.
