I cant get texting to work on my phone over wifi without the text+ app. When I use the app it changes the phone number that people see each time it sends a message so my people cannot save my info as a contact since it changes each time i send a message. I just bought this phone brand new 2 days ago. I have spent about 6 hours trolling the message boards to figure out how to use wifi to send texts. I knew there was no service in my area prior to purchase but I was pretty sure that I could use my wifi at home to complete calls and send txts. Is there anyway to do this without using that text plus app. thanks
Mine is working though I have the unlimited data plan.
Go to Settings>More>Wifi calling (check it)>Wi-Fi Calling Settings>Connection Preferences>Choose Wi-Fi Preferred
thanks for the reply, i have UL data as well. I have wifi preferred checked as well. when i try to send sms message, i just says unable to send message, it will send when svc is available.
Try a soft reset: Turn off the phone, pull out the battery for a minute, put it back then turn on the phone.
Try also selecting wi-fi only/ wi-fi preferred, test which one will work.
Thanks for the help, I give up, Im just gonna return the phone and go with another provider that has service in my area. Tmobile coverage is not available in my rural area so I thought I could use wifi instead, I guess I was wrong. This seemed like a simple issue and I didnt pay big bucks for my phone only to have to use an external app just to send txt messages. Maybe someday they will expand their service area and I will give them another try.
