    just to clarify for the group as there might be some confusion, it appears this only affects WiFi calling.  You can still place calls via the standard phone network.  The display on the network bar will show a X.  To make the X disappear, deselect, WiFi calling feature, and next time you connect via WiFi, the X will be gone.

    In short, HTC needs to get this WiFi calling issue rolled out ASAP, this is a key feature of this phone!

    mdosu,

    my home is in an area with no tmobile coverage. with my last phone, the mytouch4g, i was able to rely on the wifi calling for both incoming and outgoing calls (just as if it were the tmobile towers).

    tmobile, htc please get this issue resolved. you sure wouldn't want to lose any customers to att, verizon or sprint with their fancy iphone 5

    I have this very same problem. My phone is always in WiFi at home and sometimes the phone will ring and sometimes it doesn't and the call goes straight to voice mail. If I know that the phone is not ringing, the problem can be fixed by long pressing "1" on the phone dial, press "add" for an internet calling account and then uncheck and check the "Receive incoming calls" button.  However, it a quite irritating problem and needs to be fixed. My friends think I am avoiding them.

    T-Mobile's silence indicates they know it is a problem but don't know what to do about it.

    Open invitation for any TMO Rep to chime in...

    It seems that the newer phones all have Wi-Fi calling issues in one form or another.

    I use a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze. Wi-Fi calling does not work on the public (hotel, airport, etc) networks.  The dreadful error message, REG99 unable to connect, always appears.

    I think the new Wi-Fi calling software is the culprit.  When I put the SIM card in a Samsung Galaxy S Exhibit II, which has a Wi-Fi calling app, calls worked perfectly everywhere.

    I am not sure that the Airplane Mode being stuck in the Turning Off position has any practical impact. The more serious software bug is the fact that the phone will not ring when it is in the WiFi calling mode. You can make outgoing calls but incoming calls will go directly to voicemail. The caller will not hear any ringing. The "leave a message" announcement will come on instead. I have been going round and round with TMO service support about this. They said that the trick I described in my message above by pushing the "1" key on the dial pad is the only known work around for now. Oh, yea, T-mo is deffinitely aware of the problem.

    Well there is progress. Now the phone doesn't ring on Wifi no matter what I do.

  • 22. Re: Wi-Fi Calling problematic due to Airplane Mode

    Update, sometimes it rings and sometimes it doesn't. It always rings when customer support calls me back. I get dead silence when I ask how  they do that.

  • 23. Re: Wi-Fi Calling problematic due to Airplane Mode

    I had the same problem. I forced a support tech to stay on with me for almost an hour to debug my WiFi Calling issues. The tech observed that calls came to me about 50% of the time, the rest went straight to voice mail and never rang on my end.

    Here is a thread with technical details of why WiFi calling doesn't work...the phone doesn't respond fast enough or wake up fast enough when in Sleep mode. http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/29300

    There is no proper fix forthcoming from TMobile or HTC.

    I returned the phone.

    Just got the latest OTA and curious how this will affect Wifi calling.  Would love to hear from everyone else as well.

  • 25. Re: Wi-Fi Calling problematic due to Airplane Mode

    I installed the OTA last week when it came out, AND . . . unfortunately it doesn't seem to fix anything with the wifi calling.  I tested it after updating by having my wife call me, and it went straight to voice mail.  'Airplane Mode' is no longer stuck in the 'Turning off' mode, but I notice regularly when my phone has been sleeping for a long time and I turn it on, it is no longer connected to wifi calling.

    I'm at a loss for what to do - the phone often drops calls to, so even if it does ring and I answer it, I can't be sure I will stay connected.  It was especially frustrating when I got a call that my wife's father had been in a car accident and may have had a stroke!  My phone is not something I want to worry about when an emergency like that happens.

    This OTA seems to have made Wifi calling worse.  Before, it would say it was connected and just wouldn't ring and often wouldn't place outgoing calls.  Now the same issues still exist, with the added bonus of many times getting the red wifi calling icon stating that it couldn't connect.

    TMO still blames Comcast, however my daughters have an Ehibit II and Sensation 4G that wifi calling works flawlessly on.  Same router, same ISP, wrong answer TMO.

    Question russianmario, alsonokiafan, and others having this issue.

    Do any of you use a replacement launcher?  Go Launcher, Launcher Pro, etc?

    I also had tech support on the phone for nearly an hour going through everything and they had no solutions and were escalating it to whoever I don't know.  They are suppossed to be getting back to me.

    However, just because I'm out of ideas, I thought I'd uninstall Go Launcher and return to HTC Sense to see if that made any difference.  So far, I have had no problems with WiFi calling that I'm aware of.  Not sure if its a coincidence, luck, or what?

  • 28. Re: Wi-Fi Calling problematic due to Airplane Mode

    @coavlanche,

    I used HTC One S "stock" firmware...did factory reset with no apps installed, and problem remained.

    So I did not use a 3rd party launcher, I used stock HTC Sense.

    I did find that some 3d party battery-saver/power-saver programs made the problem worse by shutting down WiFi too aggressively.

  • 29. Re: Wi-Fi Calling problematic due to Airplane Mode

    @coavlanche,

    I haven't used any replacement launchers on this phone - just stock firmware with HTC Sense.  Hopefully your problem has fixed itself and you've got completely functional Wifi Calling now! (Although I kind of doubt that's the case )
