I have only been a T-Mobile customer since March of this year. At that time I chose the Samsung Smiley as my phone (2 yr contract). I'm beginning to have major concerns about this phone, especially as it's my primary phone. I have no landline.
I'm on my second Smiley already. The first brand new phone began to give me a message "Emergency Calls Only", where I wasn't able to dial any other numbers. I promptly returned to the T-Mobile store where I got the phone. There, they showed me how to "reset" the phone by removing the battery. During the following week, I had this message come up again, so T-Mobile gave me a replacement phone.
Well, it's about 2 months later and this new phone is giving me the same message again. I returned to T-Mobile and this time they replaced the SIM card. It seems to me this was done to the previous phone as well. I know whenever I get this message I can reset the phone by removing the battery for a few seconds. My question is whether or not this is considered reasonable. This (second) phone is a only about 2 months old. Do all Simely phones have this issue or was I unfortunate enough to receive 2 bad phones from the same batch?
Is anyone else having these issues and what are you doing to address them?
Thanks very much for any responses!
I just had the same error message last night and I searched on Google about the troubleshooting steps I should take and found this very nice one. Here is the link and I hope this will also help fixing your concern.
Thanks very much for the link. It's given me a bit more information, which is helpful.
I made this post because this problem (Emergency Call Only) keeps occuring in my home where there were no previous network issues, and this occurs rather frequently. Several times last week, which was why I asked whether or not it was considered reasonable to have to remove a battery from a device 3 -4 times a week. I have never had to do anything like this with any other phone I have owned. This second phone was fine by the way, for almost a month before these messages started to come up again (as they had with my first phone).
Thanks again for your help.
