I get this error message whenever I try to download or update anything from Google Play. I have plenty of room and the downloads are very small. This seems to have started when downloaded the latest system update.
Other than a full hard reset of the phone, is there anything else I can do?
Try going into Manage Application. Select all at the top. Scroll down to Google Play Store and select it. Clear the cache and also Clear data. Go back to the home screen and Reboot the phone. When it boots back up try using Google Play. You will have to re-signin with your account. This should take care of the Insufficient Space error.
I'm seeing this error now for the first time after upgrading to the V21y firmware. I have run the Clear Cache/Clear Data procedure posted above to no avail...
There is plenty of space left in the internal app storage, internal memory, and the SD card.
I got the update this morning and I get this same problem. I called tech support and they couldn't figure a fix and told me to do a factory reset but the factory doesn't work for me for some reason and I get no response when I try to do it.
Try doing the hardware button master reset. It is in the posted documentation and it is hard for me to post a link as I am posting from my phone right now.
I'm having the same problem since installing the update.
I've tried clearing data / cache and rebooting.
I've tried uninstalling the store updates to go back to an older version and still have the issue.
Also just remembered also can try clearing "download manager" too.
That has helped me in the past.
I was struggling with this problem on my wife's G2x after the OTA update. Ultimately these were the steps needed to correct the market download problem:
Step 1: Sync Data and Back-up everything you need that is on the phone's memory
Step 2: Settings->Applications->Manage Apps
Step 3: Select Playstore/Market App and clear data
Step 4: Select Download Manager App and clear data
Step 5: Turn off phone
Step 6: Hold Volume Down Button and Power Button (KEEP THEM PRESSED DOWN)
Step 7: Release the buttons only after the image of the white box/yellow arrow/green android disappears
Step 8: Initiate phone as if it was the first time in use
Step 9: Test download from market (market should update to playstore during first download session)
Post your results please... good luck
Where do I back up everything to? Will copying the SD card be enough? Will the Hardware reset clear everything from my phone? How about another update to correct everything they did wrong with it?
Do you have any backup programs installed?

Not that I know of. At this point, It will not allow me to download anything to my phone.
Thanks blek42 - that solved my problem.
I took your advice blek42 and it worked. Too bad there wasn't another way.
Blek42 is dead on, I had the same issue for 2 weeks, finally just did the hard reset and it fixed it. The issue is after the recent firmware update to V21y. Just finished the hard reset and updated to google play and everything is working again. Just have to go set up the phone all over again...oh, well.
