After what has happened with the galaxy S2 update to ICS I cannot justify ordering another Samsung phone or continuing to be a T-Mobile customer. No wonder T-Mobile lost so many customers late month & continues to be a 3rd rated  service provider. If there ever was a time that T-Mobile needed to shine by getting ICS out quickly this was it.

I guess t-mobile exec's didn't care that if they had been the first ones out of gate with ICS it would have gone a long ways in restoring their image as a reliable & customer caring cellular provider.

Also, I guess they are just to stupid to know that they would have gotten millions in free advertising from all the web blogs, news print & social networks reporting how they had already upgraded their Galaxy S2 customers.

This ICS fiasco is the final nail in the coffin for Samsung / T-Mobile and will cost them thousands & thousands of customers in the long run.

I would have liked to be a fly on the wall in the T-Mobile board room when the T-Mobile worthless wonders tried to explain why Apple is still kicking Android / T-Mobile **** so badly.

    Blah blah blah

After what happened with the MyTouch3G fiasco, I'm glad T-Mobile is THOROUGHLY TESTING the new release.

Think about it:  What's worse?  Updating people's phones to something that's buggy but being first with ICS, or having people wait a month for a QUALITY update? "...if they had been the first ones out of the gate with ICS it would have gone a long ways to restoring their image as a reliable..." -- If it's BUGGY, it would go NOWHERE towards restoring their image as reliable.

Remember, our SII has a different antenna.  It needs to go through more testing than AT&T because AT&T has the same antenna as the rest of the world, where most of the bugs have been knocked out.  If it were as simple as you're trying to make it sound, the rooted ROMs based off the AT&T image would be bug free.  Guess what:  It's NOT!

I mean, seriously -- until people can start telling me apps that are no longer supported on Gingerbread, there's no need to complain.  Your phone works beautifully as it is.  Enjoy it as it is.  ICS will make it here soon.

So ridiculous how people say they're leaving T-Mobile because they haven't upgraded to ICS quickly enough...

What's hilarious is once you get the ICS upgrade your phone will look and behave 99% identically to the way it does now...

Get over it guys!  We all like upgrades but no one ever promised anything!  Sweet Fancy Moses!

  • 48. Re: ICS update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2!?? WHEN??

What a punch of sheep. You're defending t-mobile with the same lame excuses when you know that the xda-developers have had working versions of ics for months & in fact ICS was actually released to the wild by Google 5 months ago. Why would I leave t-mobile & move to another carrier, simple if they've been this negligent in allocating the needed resources to get ics out in a timely fashion what do you think will happen when Jelly Bean hits this Summer. I don't know about you but when I spend my hard earned money, $200 per month, I expect service, not promises or excuses.

For starters, I don't know what a "punch of sheep" is, but it sounds painful.  I don't consider myself a sheep, and I think you're misinformed.  Yes ICS has been out on XDA for the GT-i9100, but you have to remember that it's a different device entirely from the SGH-T989; it's been hashed over 1,000 times.  ICS came to our devices through XDA about a week ago and that's from a Skyrocket port which has a lot of bugs.  And, ICS is still only about 3% of the Android market so it's not like we're being "left in the dust" as everyone would have us believe.  I'm sure Samsung sent ICS to T-Mobile and they'll have it out soon.  I'm not defending anyone I'm just trying to stay realistic.

  • 50. Re: ICS update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2!?? WHEN??

Yes The T989 aka Herc has ics.  LIke was stated though the ATT skyrocket leak.  You do realize the international sgsII uses a diffrent processer Radio Etc.   Which pretty much every other carrier used BUT Tmobile do to there 4g LTE network which the Internatioal sgs II didn't support..

If You really want ICS Root your Device Install clockwork nanoid Flash it and try it ...  Many of us on Xda Have already Debloated modified and made the leak better then what it was.

Also im still hashing out the AOSP port which is really fun considering i have absoulty no  Samsung T989 Source for  Ics For this device Not to mention i wrote most of it without even haveing the sgs II .

  • 51. Re: ICS update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2!?? WHEN??

Correction T-Mobile network is 4G HSPA+, they're supposed to be releasing LTE next year.

  • 52. Re: ICS update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2!?? WHEN??

    Painful for the sheep!!!

Honestly if anyone doesn't like T-Mobile no one is forcing anybody at gunpoint to stay.

    Baaahaaha.

  • 53. Re: ICS update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2!?? WHEN??

HAHAHA, punch of sheep... painful... ooo good stuff uncle

My advice is if you want to make timeliness complaints pertaining to your hard earned money, then in the future go ahead pay more at a different carrier who is typically quicker to release the updates.  Then you may have a sheep to stand on... wait did that come out right?... yes sheep.

  • 55. Re: ICS update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2!?? WHEN??

I want the ICS update as much as anybody.

I knew when I bought the SII on T-Mobile that it was likely to get the ICS update soon and my EVO on Sprint was iffy at best on getting ICS. If I really wanted ICS I could have bought the Nexus but I preferred the SII and was stunned at the price for service on Verizon.

Frankly, T-Mobile has been a pleasant surprise because it is $30 cheaper than Sprint and has faster data speeds. Plus it only costs $200 to get out of the contract.

No one is keeping you here on T-Mobile. If the cheapest 4G service on a top-tier carrier is a problem for you than maybe smartphones are not for you. A decent steak dinner costs more than i pay for a month of T-Mobile service.

What I don't want is a buggy ICS release from T-Mobile. For all of the hype around ICS it does not offer anything that I don't have with Gingerbread.now.  The only thing ICS offers is a better interface and that is secondary to my phone functioning properly.

Funny how they don't have this problem in Europe where people's point of view is that corporations are there to serve them, not the other way around.

Complain about the people complaining about poor support if you want, but no one would be saying a word if Samsung and T-Mobile were properly supporting the devices people paid their hard earned money to have.

There's a HUGE difference between "support" and "providing an OS upgrade"

The support is there.  Heck, I can still get support for my Nokia 3585 from T-Mobile.  They'd probably giggle when I told them the phone, but they'd help me in any way they can to get it.  The device still works on their network.  They SUPPORT it.

  • 58. Re: ICS update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S2!?? WHEN??

I rarely read articles and blogs related to when updates are coming to the US.  I like the UK blogs better but they seem to disagree with you altogether.  Europe has the same problems with udates and releases as there are variants over there also.

Here read for yourself. Based on my observations if it's not finished in Europe first then we still have some waiting to do.
