My 3gs did MMS just fine on 3.1.2 but after upgrade to 5.1, I applied the fix here:
I still cannot send text messages with photos. Everything else is fine. Any ideas?
This will fix MMS
How is that different from what I already did? I already put in the settings fomr the t-mobile document. What does your post suggest or do more than that?
The correct answer is to use the alternative wap.voicestream.com server for the two APN fields and then reboot. Running yet another progra that sets it to epc.tmobile.com will not solve the problem. Not at all. Please know what you are talking about before you post.
Please know what YOU are talking about
This setting sets far more things up than just adding epc.tmobile.com
It has settings that you can NOT change without a third party app
Do some research as YOU are the one who is mistaken.
I have been working with the iPhone since 1.1.1
It may be true that the program sets other things. What is also true is that I followed the document, rebooted but could not text a picture. Then I remembered the voicestream alternate APN comment in the procedure. I changed the APN and rebooted. Now I can text photos.
What are the other settings changed by the 3rd party app and why do you think they are important since they aren't actually needed to make MMS work?
Usually a simple fix like that is not needed
Usually the extra settings are
I know my MMS will not work without this added
Also have you checked if you can recieve?
DARN! I can send but not receive: Error: 'The media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction'
However, following the instructions in the T-Mobile procedure, I searched and located an article about a Cydia source with a T-Mobile package that solves the problem after a reboot. So the settings themselves don't completely solve the problem as I recall they did in my iOS 3.1 unlock. No offense but I much prefer packages from Cydia sources than just any old one that somebody puts out there. Below is the t-mobile forum with the solution that worked using cydia.pushfix.info and the package T-Mobile US MMS Fix:
It works on my iOS 5.1 redsn0w/ultrasnow fixer/ultrasn0w jailbrake/unlock 3gs on 5.11.07 BB and new bootrom. So both doing the procedure in this document and the above T-Mobile US MMS Fix are needed for MMS in both directions:
No offensence put this works for people who aren't jailbroken
Also I am doing what a cydia package does only more stable and safer than a cydia package
Also for a jailbroken person I gave a different tutorial
This MMS Fix (iBackupBot) DOES work on a Factory Unlocked iPhone 4S. Got mine yesterday and updated to 5.1 and used his method to fix MMS. Now it works like a charm.
