I still have 2.2.1 !!! I never got the OTA update for Gingerbread. How can I update?
I think this section is for the LG MyTouch device.
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1818 is for your device.
Same position you are in. The post I read shows that Gingerbread update is going to be rolled out, but it doesnt say how and when to expect it. The rollout is going through April 15 I think. Hope that helps.
Discussion successfully moved from T-Mobile myTouch to T-Mobile myTouch 4G
Still no update DOC - 1818 is BLAH BLAH BLAH, some of our phones are not receiving update, WHY!!!
About > software information
2.2.1 android version
1.17.531.2 software number
My 4g does not have:
Menu > Settings > About Phone > HTC software updates > Check now.
I saw this procedure in another thread. I am not sure if it will work, but it couldn't hurt to try it:
1. Check in your phone: dial *#*#2432546#*#* into your phone (after the last *, it should take the entered sequence) You should receieve a notification that you are checked-in.
2. Once checked-in: dial *#*#682#*#* into your phone (again, after the last *, it should take the entered sequence). You should then receive a notification that an update is ready for you.
Thanks vikingpro, The proceedure worked great updated to 2.3.4, Still no Ginger but alot BETTER

You're welcome benjogali, I am glad it worked!
By the way, 2.3.4 IS Gingerbread.
Any idea how to get the update to complete? It keeps stopping around 60% and rendering my device unusable till I factory reset. What am I missing? Phone is charged, not rooted, what else can I do?
I would try and do it manually instead.
I would post a link but they typically seem to delete and consider it developement.
But look over on xda or for the file and flash with bootloader.
These steps didnt work for my mytouch, any idea why?
I have heard that for some, this did not work. As for why, I cannot say.
I know that when I used the "Check-in" feature the first time, I had dialed wrong, so the code was incorrect. I had to MAKE SURE that I dialed it correctly. My problem was the fact that I failed to notice that the * and the # were not in the same order before and after the numbers. Also, I believe that they have to be done in that order.
Think before putting fingers in GEAR.
Nothing seems to be working for me either. I've never received notification on my phone to update, nor does typing "checkin"/"ota" with the asterisk and pound keys seem to do anything. I can successfully "checkin" but then when I try the *#*#682#*#* trick, nothing happens. I finally called TMobile support today...first they started discussing upgrading my phone. When I stated again I was looking to UPDATE my SOFTWARE, I was directed to google play...since I was skeptical I asked if this method was just going to update the android market app, or actually update my android software, I was told it would update the software. Pretty sure the person on the other line either didn't understand what I was asking or had no idea what they were talking about, maybe both.
I'm not usually very fussed up about updating, but my phone has been giving me problems for months and I keep hoping that this update might help since I'm not eligible for an upgrade until Sept.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do now that the rollout period has ended and I still haven't gotten the OTA update??
By the way, I am still on 1.17.531.2 (Android 2.2.1). Any help is appreciated, thank you!
Two days ago I got the automatic update over my phone. I was also on 1.17.531.2 (android 2.2.1) and was trying to get around to finding a T-Mobile store to do the OTA so I could download the rest. During lunch a message popped up on the main screen that a software update was available. Sure enough, it did the entire process and I am finally up to date. First the OTA happened and then the full upgrade. I was near a recharger and just left it pluugged in. There was an assortment of restarts and pauses, but it happened. I now have Android 2.3.4.
I got my phone in early Nov. 2010. My husband got his in Dec. 2010 and got his update the same way about a month ago. It may be they are updating the oldest phones last. So even though they said the automatic update would end on the 15th, that does not seem to be the case. I see no decrease in speed or battery use. There are some very nice features in the updated operating system (so nice to see 4G instead of H and the new info in Settings) and in other programs which have automatically updated.
