Updating the initial post . . . .
This morning several G2x users discovered that a software update was availible directly from the LG support site using the LGMobile Update tool. It was later confirmed that this update brought the phone to Gingerbread 2.3.3. Kernel 22.214.171.124.
Later today, T-Mobile disclosed that this was NOT the approved GB update. Although it is being released by LG, apparently TMO has not approved it or fully QA tested it and further iterations may be forth coming.
Some users (unknown how many) are reporting the following issues with the install:
* Some users may not upgrade due to phone version
* Some users report that the install may freeze in the middle causing issues
People using the released software update are so far reporting minimal issues but the update has only been out less than 24 hours.
If I'm missing anything, please let me know.
OTA or did you have do download via LG? If via LG please provide link.
From what I can tell, you have to install the LGMobile Support Tool
Once you have that downloaded you can check for an update. I checked yesterday and I had V10F. It is being reported that it is V21E (whatever that means).
Cool let us know when it's finished. Interested to see if its GB.
I'm finalizing my backup now as it will erase all data (and apps) on my phone. Multiple xda users are reporting that this is GB and are providing screenshots.
I'll believe it when I see it. I should have it download within the hour. If anyone else can verify, please do.
Mine is almost finished, ill let you know too...
Well i thought i was almost finished. Now it's stuck at 4% after a restart, and hasn't moved for 10 minutes.
Just finished and is now rebooting. It is indeed Gingerbread.
25 minutes now of being at 4% ..... it won't surprise me if their software is anything like their hardware, and it's locked up.....
Yup, LG's update program locked up.... big surprise there.....
I'm installed and running. Looks pretty sweet so far
Let's hope this fixes our problems or most of them anyway.
Do you need to be rooted? Can you revert back to froyo if all hell breaks loose?
