I have tried everything from the other threads here. I have done a factory reset twice and still no calls have come in. Is this a SIM issue or a network error, or both? I can call out but cannot receive a single call using the cell service. However, if I switch on wifi calling, I can receive calls then. What gives? Any ideas? Thank you for your answers.
Do you show any bars of service?
Can you switch to GSM only? Settings > Wireless > Mobile networks > Network mode...GSM only.
I have three to four bars either on edge, or 4g. It likes to switch. I never had this problem with my vibrant. I have had this phone for two weeks and have maybe received four calls.
If a factory reset doesn't do anything for you, and you've verified that your apn settings are correct, and the phone is telling you that you have a signal, I'd suggest you call 611 or 1800TMOBILE and get a replacement phone.
Yeah, I was afraid of that answer unclespoon. I tried calling from my wife's phone this morning and my phone finally rang after hers rang four times. After that, hers would ring twice and go straight to voicemail while the call didn't even reach my phone. Then I called from my hard line at work, and it rang through. When I check the CALL FORWARDING settings, sometimes it gives a Network or SIM card error, but that doesn't tell me which one it is. I think I will take it back to the brick and mortar and see about a new SIM card tonight to try and rule that out. What really sucks is I love this phone, when it is working. T-Mobile hopefully won't mess around if I try to exchange it for another phone. I have had this one for just two weeks and I have been to the store once for this same issue already.
I did set it just on GSM and that didn't help, btw. Everything else works fine. Data connection is there. Texting works. Placing calls seems to work. Sometimes when a call sneaks through, they can't hear me and I can't hear them. Weird and frustrating.
Thanks for the help. If you think of anything else, please let me know.

Wow -- guess I can't give a recipe for their chicken
In their defense, they're trying to keep this a friendly forum.
There's words left and right that people may find offensive.
Unfortunately, there's sometimes a word has multiple definitions, so if one meaning could be taken as offensive, then the entire word can be removed.
Also in their defense, I did have the word "me" after it. I gotta tell you though, I had to search long and hard for the infraction....
yeah -- I've seen phrases *'d out. Specifically the phrase that involves the word "hit" and "miss" -- because "It's" is before "hit" and can be construed as profane.
It's a pain to try to figure out what word is blocked. I went twenty minutes when I was talking about the polite term for the part of your body you sit on that rhymes with "hum" simply because I didn't want to say the word that, when added an S is a county in Georgia.
But, it does generally result in a better phrased post in some cases because other wordings get corrected as well!
or just use igpay atinlay.
You can't say erkjay, but you can say jack, as in jacking around, which I think carries a higher degree of offensiveness.
Update. My phone has decided to work. Don't know what or if I did anything to get it to work, but it does. I am guessing that it will rear its ugly head again in the near future. I am going to go with NETWORK error at this point. I have been receiving calls and everything is working as it should right now. Thanks to all of you who gave your input.
T-mobile, please fix the dead spot that seems to encompass my house and my house alone. Better yet, send me one of those signal boosters I see on the site that says FREE on it. Thanks.
