I hate my keyboard. On NoDo, the keyboard was flawless. Now, on Mango, it is has awful accuracy and disappears. This has made me hate my Radar and just consider leaving T-Mobile and head back to Sprint for an iPhone.
I know T-Mobile has to request updates, so please get the 8107 to us, test it, and release it. You obviously support Windows Phone because you actually advertise it, so please be honest and give us support as well. Don't just skip it because this is a serious problem people are complaining about. Please release 8107.
+1 to the request. Although infrequent, the dissappearing keyboard bug is annoying as hell.
Considering that it does not appear like T-Mobile customized anything in the Radar I don't see what exactly are they testing. As long as someone in the world already tested this update on an HTC Radar the rollout should be fairly straighforward
I can't take it anymore and am seriously considering leaving T-Mobile (5+ year customer) to move to AT&T as soon as the Nokia Lumina 900 is released.
I love my HD7, but I use my phone frequently for text/email for work and the disappearing keyboard is sooooo frustrating!
I've went ahead and installed this on my HTC Radar, and does indeed fix the disappearing keyboard. The accuracy is still horrible compared to NoDo (the finger input detection went to **** after NoDo)
I would suggest installing it if the disappearing bug annoys you that much because it worked fine for me.
Ha ha leave and go to AT&T? Going to be no different and be paying more per month.
Yea if anything AT&T will be worse and you will be paying more a month. They are the most notorious for not updating devices.
By "I Installed this" do you mean you did the manual 8107 update from this thread? - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1269895
If so, any downside you've seen? I want to manually install 8107 on my Radar but don't want to brick the thing.
I did not use this method. I used this one:
I would like to get the 8107 update but I don't want to got the DIY route. I am afraid I'd brick the phone no matter how carfull I was. I'd just like my service provider to release it as soon as possible and update the phone the normal way.
Thing is I can go to the T-Moblie HQ in Bellevue since I drive by there all the time and go to each building and start to ask at the front desk "Who do I need to talk to about the 8107 update for the HTC Radar?". I am afraid that security would call the cops on me! But maybe they'd get the message!
T-Mobile in UK is rolling out with the update 8107. Hopefully, it will soon get here in U.S.
Looks like update is starting today - http://www.tmonews.com/2012/02/htc-radar-4g-software-update-incoming-begins-today/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
That's great....sold my Radar about 3 weeks ago to buy a Lumia 710....go figure
I've ran 8107 on both devices and notices no changes. I did the manual install for the Radar, so let us know how the official helps the Radar because I do miss the WAY better battery life of the Radar. I like the Lumia's screen better, but the typing accuracy is actually worse on this device as well, so I look forward to seeing what all the official may improve over the leaked manual install method.
Well it went through the 7740 then 8107 then some HTC update which I assume did something to the radio because my signal strength seems improved. I noticed it today when using Carbon and the Facebook app that things just loaded faster (like photos that had to be retrieved from a server). I ran a test using BandWidth and got 5.11Mbps down which is significantly better than what I had before.
Wow...I need to find a Radar again because I kind of miss it, and it seems like it gets more support from HTC and T-Mobile than Nokia is providing for their devices. Has the keyboard accuracy improved also?
Since the problem was intermittent before, I have no way of verifying that it has been fixed. Hasn't happened to me yet but then again it could be days between when I would have the issue. Time will tell with that.
I think Nokia does a decent job with the Lumia 800 so I assume that things would flow back toward the 710. So far it seems like its the carriers that are the major blocker in updates rolling out.
Speaking of the 710, how is the Nokia Drive app? I had the hacked 18.104.22.1681 version which was quite crappy compared to Google Maps Navigation on my wife's G2.
