So, my wife gets her first discount available on our plan later this month. Is this something that she can take advantage of, or is this only for new activations?
Just reading that it would appear it does have to be a new activation or adding a new line but you could always call the number and ask for certain.
Yes the promotion is for new customers and new lines only.

The 10% off a month is good for new customers, new lines, or upgrades. Just the special phone pricing is for new customers/new lines.
T-Mobile is now also giving a $50 service credit for all new lines/new customers until 12/31/11
So the service credit, does that come off your bill or come of the price of the phone?
I think it's like a credit that you'll see on your bill.

The service credit will come off your monthly bill. It's not like gift card you get in the mail or anything like that.
I asked someone at the tmobile store about the $50 service credit and they didn't know anything about it.
That's because you're suppose to follow the directions in the deal where it says to call the 800 number and give the promo code. The reps who answer that line will know of the deal if you mention the promo code. Reps at the store are a different story.

That offer is really specific. Only offerered through one department. I know the ad said 10% off, but when I called in, it was 15% off. I've already ordered the phone (haven't received it yet), but they agreed to drop the $35 activation fee and add the 15% off monthly service.
You were able to get 15% off monthly? Did you use the deal posted by the OP? the 800 number?
I think the $50 service credit expired on 12/31 but the discount and waived activation fees are still on for 2012 from what i've heard
