I know I can download an apk or something like that but I'd rather just get the update majically. Any way to force it?
Unfortunately, no. The update is being rolled out slowly. The only way is to install the new app.
Unfortunately not, mnbug.
What happens when the app updates is that the apk is forced to your device (in this case, by Google.)
Google has stated it could take a few weeks to see this come to users. I hope this information helps!
Market will eventually update on it's own. It will be pushed through in segments. From what I understand, it won't be long.
I've been running it for a few days now and it is much improved!
.....oh, i did manually download the new market app and it works great. I have already purchased an application and rented a movie. Transactions went through smoothly. The new layout is fantastic. I hope all Enjoy!!!!!
Ya I think the new market app looks pretty cool. It has a lot more bling to it then how it looked before.
I don't like the new market look - too busy. but I do like the features.
Ya, I mean it's great that the movies and books are on there, but im sure will get people who will complain and say oh because the movies are right in front I hit the buy movie or book by mistake, but i guess thats how like and the world works, no ones happy unless their complaining.
I'm not happy about the movie part because I can't play the movies on my phone, rooted with custom ROM so Google blocks it. What's interesting is Google went with a Windows 7 look with tiles. It is set up very nice and a pleasure to use.
kalel33 I'm rooted, but no custom rom installed. It's works great.

According to Google you shouldn't be able to watch movies either. Are you just temp rooted or partially rooted without S=OFF? Here's the link to Google support and that they state the reason is pretty much the movie studios are afraid that rooted phone users would try to pirate the material.
I was under the impression that "S-OFF" applied to HTC phones. I thought that was irrelevant for the G2x, since the bootloader wasn't locked to begin with. My apologies if I'm wrong.
Both my Sensation and rooted G2x see movies. My Sensation, while temp rooted, won't play (Error 49), but is fine when I reboot. I can rent on the G2x as well, but cannot view them (error 49) using CyanogenMod 71.RC1 or on my rooted Stock ROM. Cost me $6.00 to confirm this, but at least I know what works and what doesn't. I hope Google can work something out with the movie industry to allow us to watch movies on rooted devices... Just because we root our phones, doesn't make us pirates. The movie industry spends so much time and effort on trying to keep pirates at bay (pirates will pirate regardless) that honest people can't enjoy their devices to the fullest extent.

The Sensation is the only one with a locked bootloader and that just keeps you from getting S=OFF and adding a custom ROM. The devs still haven't broke it yet, so users are just waiting for an update to unlock the bootloader.
