Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum and honestly am new to smartphones. I just got the SG2 but can't connect it to ever connect to 4g. I know they have 4G in my area as my wife has the HTC Amaze with T Mobile and she always has it. Here are somethings that may help:
Any ideas? Thanks!
call customer service and make sure the data plan is set up correctly on your line.
Great question and I appreciate you reaching out to the Forums, that is what we are here for, to resolve your issues! I definitely want you to enjoy all the benefits of your new Samsung Galaxy 2 device. A few quick questions for you, if your WI FI connection is off (as a FYI we recommend keeping this off unless you are in a no signal area as it may confuse your phone's radio signal) and data roaming is on (again a recommended setting to be ON as your device needs this capability) do you receive 2G or an E only? Please ensure that the use 2g only is not checked as well, this may be found under Menu>Settings>Wireless and Network>Mobile Networks>Network Mode
If any other questions or you still do not see 3G or 4G please let me know.
Thanks for the replies and the tips about WI FI and data roaming!
It typically says 3G when data roaming is on. However it has never said 4G and my wife could be sitting right next to me with her HTC Amaze and it is pretty much 4G all the time without the data roaming box being checked.
Also, when I follow your instruction above my options are:
Thanks for your help!
Wow ATeam, that is frustrating sitting right next to someone and seeing they have a stronger data signal, I can assure you we are not singling you at all When you got your new device did you use an existing SIM card or update to a new one? T-Mobile has a new type of SIM card that is more robust to work with great Android devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2. The new SIM cards are marked by TMxxx on the back of the card or I will be more than happy to investigate this issue for you if you will provide me your 10 digit mobile number via private message. If you would like to use this option please select my username and then on the right hand side please select the option for "send private message"
I bet you anything that's the problem! I've been with T Mobile for about 3-5 years and have always had the same SIM. What do I do to fix this?
I responded to your next steps via private message and glad we found the resolution!
Can you help me out also.
I only connect to EDGE network and not 4G.
I have the same problem as ateam25.
