Will the 710 support T-mobile Wifi Calling?
That's a great question. WiFi calling is not supported on this device.
Thanks for using T-Force
Does that mean "currently not supported" or "never going to support"?
It would be nice if it is a future app or update. Wifi calling would fill in the dead spots where I live!
When I spoke with a rep today (while I was ordering) He indicated it would. ?? Have things changed?
Tmobile web site and sales staff both claim that it does support wifi calling.
I just reviewed http://nokia-windows-phone.t-mobile.com/ and don't see any mention of WiFi Calling (WiFi yes, phone calling yes, connecting to T-Mobile USA via the 'net and placing calls out through T-Mobile's network, using one's T-Mobile number, aka "WiFi Calling", no.). If you can find any documentation for the Nokia 710 saying WiFi Calling is offered or implied please link to it.
It is my explicit understanding WiFi Calling is not on the feature map for Windows Phone - not any model, not any version.
Having both the HTC Radar and now the Nokia 710 Lumia I can confidently state neither currently offers WiFi Calling nor have I ever heard it is expected on these handsets. If you came across a confused person saying "it might come..." then they're likely wishful thinking.
Nothing has changed, the earlier post from maggard is correct - there are no plans to provide wifi calling on the Windows Phone platform. Anything to the contrary is speculation, and not advisable to plan on.
There's a 3rd party app for video chat, that will enable wifi calling, Tango, you can find it in the market place,
It's not perfect, as those you want to call have to have Tango also. but is seems to solve half the problem.
Thanks russia for your reply but I think you have missed the point. T-mobile wifi calling routes calls to and from your number via the internet (so the caller has no idea that you are using a wifi connection) essentially its a way of connection to the t-mobile network in areas without signal (like my home)
any VOIP app like tango is an app to app voice call and something very different.
Ha, they put that on my plan for free when I purchased the 710. The more I read about this phone, the more discouraged and regret I feel about getting it.
It probably will, but will probably take some time. WP7 is new, and WP8 is bound to come out soon.
jennifer_g and maggard (employee)......Then why does the manual say it does and two customer care reps said it does also? One of the main reasons we selected this phone
