I just bought a new SIM card for the phone i already had. I believe the SIM card is activated and on my phone shows signal bars, but if I try to make a call my phone says "Not registered on Network" ? ..I am also unable to received calls and texts. Can someone help me please?

Just because the phone shows signal, it doesn't mean the SIM card is indeed active. Did you call T-Mobile to update your SIM card when you got it? If not, please call 611 and do that as soon as you can. You should be able to find the SIM card numbers on the large SIM card holder.

Wasn't for me. I have two Samsungs just like this person and I have had this message about 30 times in three days. We have storms in the area and they try to blame it on the weather and outages. The problem is that the techs can't quite comprehend the statement that it occurred prior to any storms twice in areas about 4 miles apart.
Is there anyway I can connect with other users on this forum? I would like to start gathering examples to get a class action lawsuit started on this device. I paid good money for three phones and I'm done taking these, "I don't want to do my job," scripted responses from techs. This Samsung Galaxy 4G is by far the worst phone I have ever owned.
Cust Care is sending out a signal amp. Very nice. Will I get one for in my car, for work, for my wifes work because this error is occurring all over the place. I worked for AT&T / Cingular and processed switch transactions and failure to register is bad. The tech on the phone gave me some troubleshooting. Really reboot the phone. Okay still doesn't work. Change from Automatic to GSM only, make a call okay that worked. Now change back to both okay that worked. Until I exhaled. Sadly I had already tried that several times on my own.
I can hold this phone in the same spot and go from 4 bars to 1 to 0 to 2 to 0. And I mean exactly the same spot. I can have 3 bars and not register. That is a bad antennae or other problem. I might as well have a glossy but useless iPhone. I think I'm taking the phones back.
You cannot make calls if you are not registered. The device must have approval from an HLR to connect. The thing is on networks i see two. AT&T and T-mobile. Most of the time just AT&T. I'm guessing they made a change or two and it is affecting service when connecting to their towers.
Same thing here. Nothing changed on the phone. At home I ususally connect to wifi calling so I do not know when the issue started, but I went out and noticed I was not connected to the network. When I scan all I get is AT&T.
I have tried everything from flashing a new rom, to reflashing bootloaders and nothing. Just a note, I had not flashed anything in over a month, so it was working until it wasn't.
I didn't root or change the device. Three phones two samsung and one my touch. All experience the same issues. Likely the roam to another network wont change until you have -1 bars of signal strenghth on the preferred network \ or service (2g,3g,4g). They just don't want to tell you that. In the old days you could change the features and force it to roam to a provider closer to your home (AT&T would threaten to terminate employees if they changed their employee line).
My phone is registered and works on wi-fi in my home and in major areas like Seattle, but I paid for wireless service not for a device to connect to my wifi. It is nice that I can pay $150 for cable so I can connect my $400 phone that wont work on the service I pay another $150 to use but that is the wrong answer. Thats like saying your new car wont run so you can put gas in the neighbors as a work-around. If you leave the wifi range on a call it gets dropped, on a cell it switches. Also I have two routers. One at each end of the house dlink and obummer. The phone won't change to the best signal even if i stand in front of the other router. Not on a call or browsing. This is samsung junk in my opinion. I have an EVO and it switches immediately.
Tmobile is losing a 6 year customer. Even if I go to sprint it would cost me less to get 3 phones, activate, unlimited data, text, and pay an early termination fee for 3 lines. It is clear that t-mobile forgot about service.
I have the same issue. My phone cannot register on the network as it is trying to register on AT&T netwrok. Tmobile signal is horrible even though the map says I should have 4 bars atleast. When i try to call it gives me a message " Not registered on the network". I have changed 3 SIM cards and replaced battery and have gone through multiple power cycles and still no avail.
I have talked to customer support and they have an open ticket that has not been resolved. I beleive the issue is that the contract for network sharing they had with ATT expired this year and we are having issues due to that. I was told by tech support that areas in which their map tells that the signal is good those towers will not allow sharing according to new agreement and their map is very misleading as mentioned in second sentence. Until they rectify that we all will have issues. I will wait for 2 more days to see if this issues is resovled and will have to make a decision on cancelling the service.
While you're at it, make sure to notify the Better Business Bureau as well as your state's attorney general about the problems you have experienced with T Mobile. That's the only way you'll get anything resolved. At the very least, T Mobile may be forced to waive the cancellation fee.

I see you are a T Mobile employee, though. That explains it all. I find it amusing that you will take the time to try to tell me what to do regarding posting, but you decline to respond to any of the issues that have been expressed.
Why aren't you trying to get to the bottom of the bad activation code issue, for instance? Or is it your job to just push your supposed weight around on these forums?
And no, I don't plan to sue. I do plan to spread the word in cyberspace, though. T Mobile is cheating the public, and the public deserves to know.
