hello all! new to t-mobile, one week actually! am loving the new mytouch 4g, my question is how does the t-mobile contacts work? i see the three pre-installed contacts (check balance, etc). i signed into my google account and my 39 contacts synced with the phone, i set it to sync once a day (the backup app) but i see they are not being backed up by the contacts app?
am i doing something wrong, or the backup doesn't sync and backup gmail contacts?
thanks for your replies.
Hello brad560, and welcome!
On your myTouch there are actually various ways to backup your contacts. If you are interested in having them backed up to T-Mobile.com, we need to ensure that the built-in sync is turned on and the contacts are stored to the 'T-Mobile' catagory on the phone. To ensure sync is on, do the following:
To activate Mobile Backup, follow these steps:
If you then want to copy contacts from the 'Google' catagory to the 'T-Mobile' catagory, follow the instructions in the link below to first move your contacts to the SD card, then to import them to T-Mobile.
I hope this helps!
if your contacts are in gmail, you don't need to back them up. google does this for you.
I would avoid using any other contact backup other than Google. It's not that there are issues using T-Mobile contacts, just what happens if you change carriers, or you've got some contacts in T-Mobile and some in Google, or any number of other unnecessary headaches? Google takes care of contacts very well, there's no need to complicate things further.
How do you get them to sync from the phone into gmail. Will gmail read in the exported vcf? Will icon images sync? Thanks, sorry to hijack you thread.
Export to SD and take that file to your PC, Gmail's web app should be capable of importing that file. I don't think photos transfer, though.
