Hi, I got a blackberry 9650 3g v18.104.22.1689 that a friend gave me. I had a nokia and currently with a family plan with tmobile 1500 minutes a month and 300 text a month. The blackberry was unlock so I switch my sims card. Everything is working, I can connect to wi fi network and go on internet without any problems, but I cant have an email or bbm. My bbm page is available, i See my status and my pin, but when I send an invitation to another user using their pin, its pending authorization indefinitely and no one care able to see my request. I have read that I need a blackberry data plan and can have it through my carrier... just dont know how to go about it.
Great observation, and you are absolutely right! All BlackBerrys require a data plan to use email and BBM. If you would like me to assist you in adding a data plan, so please send me a private message by clicking on my name and under the “Actions” section click “private message.”
Thank you for contacting T-Force,
I am also having a problem with a Verizon BB Bold 9650. I don't want to use email, but I would like to be able to use WiFi as well as MMS. I can send/receive Voice and SMS, but cannot sent/receive MMS or use WiFi.
Can you help?
I am also having the same problem. Please help.
David, as pointed out above, you need a BlackBerry data plan for BlackBerry data services. You will also need a data plan for MMS, though a regular data plan may suffice for that. However, you are using a BlackBerry that was intended for another network and not supported by T-Mobile.
You may be able to get the device working for data on T-Mobile but it will take some doing. For one, you will need to find service books and load them manually. Search the BlackBerry forums (blackberryforums.com, crackberry, etc.).
thank you very much aiharkness
Good luck. Post an update when you get a chance. Hope you get it working the way you want.
Service books aren't needed. If you call T-Mobile and get a BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) plan ($20/month for 2GB 3G + unlimited --- which on these EDGE-only unlocked phones is just unlimited) you are good to go.
Pull your battery, insert the SIM, put it back in and BAM.... works great! Downloads the service books, auto-configures WAP settings, etc.
The only thing that will have to be done is choosing "Options" from the Blackberry apps list --- then choosing "Advanced Options" --- "TCP/IP settings and entering (without quotation marks): "epc.t-mobile.com" to get apps like Pandora and Opera to work.

I have been trying fro several weeks with support to get my data plan on my Verizon BB Bold 9650 to work on T-Mobile to no avail.
