mobile network is not working?

i was using HTC HD2, and have the unlimited data plan.

my girlfriend bought me a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II yesterday,

i can receive and make phone calls, but the mobile network is not working.

    Try pressing menu>settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>make sure there is a check mark next to use packet data.

    Use packet data CHECKED

    GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode) CHECKED

     

    i can see the see the 4G sign on top.

    but the two arrows under the 4G sign, arrow pointing down is orange, arrow pointing up is green...

     

    i also tried switch back to HTC HD2, the mobile network works again.

    Try going to menu>settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>access point names>menu>reset apns

    still no luck... any ideas?

     

    i tried to open the web browser, it says this:

    "Subsciption Upgrade Required" Your data plan does not work on this device. Click here to sign up for a new data plan.

    but when i clicked on the "here", it directed me to a page says "There are no data upgrade options available for your rate plan."

    Just had this issue as well for several hours. If you are still having the issue, the following worked for me:

     

    settings > wireless networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names > Check the circle for epc.tmobile.com

     

    If checked already, then click menue, reset to default.

     

    Worked for me instantly.

     

    If still have issue. Then after you do the above, check off "use data packett" in previous screen and check back on.

     

    It is an annoying issue, but mine is working now. Hope it works for you.

    still not working for me...

    do you think that i need to change/upgrade my data plan to use this phone?

    everytime i switch back to my old phone, T-Mobile HTC HD2, the internet works again...

    If that didnt work than it is 100% the data plan for your old phone. Yes, the fix is by switching/upgrading the data plan. As I am writing this, I remebered I had the issue when I first got the phone. I was still on the MyTouch data plan and switched it online and it started working within a couple minutes. That should work for you.

    My story is IDENTICAL!! Very frustrating. I had the HTC HD7 and just got the Galaxy S2 and can only connect with Wi-Fi.. data connection isn't working.. I have the unlimited data plan and actually T-Mobile MAKES you get the specific data plan needed. I put my card back in my HTC and the connection works.. it seems like I say a toggle somewhere that gave you options for 2G, 3G or 4G.. I'm certain I saw it but I can't remember where. I be been messing with it trying to find it but have had no luck. I'm thinking it's not working because this location may just not be 4G available .. anyone?? frustrating.. it's gotta be on the phone.  T-Mobile can't help me. I e called..

    You will need to switch the data plan. They failed to tell me this when I bought my phone several weeks ago. I have always had the unlimited data plan for my past 3 phones and never had an issue or needed to switch the data plan until I bought the new S2. They didnt inform me about the issue when I purchased it so I ran into this issue when I got home. I tried several things and nothing wortked so I switched the data plan online. This will work for you. Dont worry about calling them. Just login to your account online, go to "change services" and chosse the data plan you want. I already had the unlimited data plan before and it sounds like you do too, but go through this proccess and it should work. After you do this, turn off your phone, wait a minute, and then turn it back on.

     

    If you ever have the issue later on down the road after you fix it this time, then check my earlier post. It just happened to me again today but the fix above worked.

    Also, if your sim card is old you will want to get one of the newer ones.

    After you have switched your phone online to be the S2, I chose the unlimited data plan up to 5 GB. But, you can chose the 2 GB or one of those. Be sure that your online account shows that you now have the S2 and is not showing a picture of your previous phone.

    ok.. I looked and I have the highest data plan which was required for my phone. The $30 one.. That's the one that Ive had since I've been with T-Mobile.
