Wi-Fi Calling: ER05 Invalid SIM Card

I get this error despite using my newly activated and included TM9177 SIM. What to do? Thank you.

Sorry to hear about the SIM card problem!

You do have the correct SIM card type, but we may be able to fix this.

Have you powered the phone off, removed the SIM card, and re-inserted it? I had this happen to me, and simply removing and replacing the SIM card resolved the issue.

Are you able to make and receive non Wi-Fi calls, send texts, and access the web?

Let us know and we'll continue to help!

    Hi,

I get error "ER06 SIM Card not ready" when trying to use Wi-Fi calling.  I already shut down the phone, removed and put back the SIM card, and turned the phone back on again to no avail.  I have the TM9177 SIM as well.

    Help!

Regarding: ER06 SIM Card not ready

Just got off the phone with T-Mobile tech support (a guy who seemed to have direct access to the real engineers) and after toggling all the switches on their end and verifying that I had the correct software rev and SIM card hes tated that the issue is related to their own network provisioning system and that they are working to resolve it.  He suggested to me that they should have it corrected in the next 72 hours.

Thanks for trying that out. Go ahead and call Technical Care from a different phone and they can perform some troubleshooting. It could possibly be a network-related issue and nothing with your phone or SIM card.

You can call 1-800-937-8997 to reach customer care from a landline.

brandt are you a T-Mobile rep? And what are T-Force reps? I called, was told it is a known issue and to allow three business days for resolution.

I do work for T-Mobile, but I do not work as a Customer Service representative. I just provide assistance on the T-Mobile Support Community when I feel that I can help. Since I have a HTC Amaze 4G, I frequent this forum often.

T-Force representatives are T-Mobile employees who help others on the forums.

Oh ok thanks. Hopefully T-Mobile can fix this soon. Anyway to get a badge that you are a verified T-Mobile customer like Verizon forums have?

The cell phone blog's have been telling us since the release of the Amaze that you needed the new sim card that "came with the phone" to have this feature working.  T-Mobile policy for exsisting customers is to use your current sim card when you upgrade phones and reserve the new sim cards for new activations.  I tried to get a new sim card when I got my Amaze 4G on release day, but was told my current sim would work just fine, which it did until this update.  I too had the ER05 error after I got the update.  I went to the local T-Mobile store, told them that I needed a new sim card to get the WiFi calling to work, and the on duty manager told me that she too had an Amaze 4G and that the HTC rep told her that this update would not fix the WiFi calling and it was NOT a sim problem.  However, I convinced them to swap sim card's and when I got home where I have WiFi (store did not have WiFi), I get the little blue WiFi calling icon in the status bar. You have to turn WiFi calling on in settings and select one of three preferences. I choose prefer WiFi to test.   I called the store back, via WiFi, and informed them that the sim swap fixed the problem, they seemed totally amazed (no pun intended).  So, get a new sim card and that error will go away.  There is nothing they can do over the air to fix this.

It amazes me (no pun) that people who make a living selling phones know less than their customers.  I could understand the minimum wage clerks may not know, but managers should frequent these forums and any internal forums all the time.

I was getting this error and tried everything humanly possible. I contacted tmobile 4 times and finally on the 4th time, the service rep noticed that something was wrong with my account and had to "provision something"... I don't know what. Wifi Calling was added to my account on the first support call so that wasn't it. Make sure to insist that tmobile look on their site for what the issue might be. I knows someone who was sent a new phone for this issue and the issue wasn't resolved.

By upgrading the SIM card was the correct resolution in this situation.

Per the box it does state to update the SIM specifically for this device, Samsung Galaxy S2.

This can be confusing, cause other T-mobile devices do not require the new TM9177 sim card.

    Sorry for the confusion.

Excited to see that it is working!

    I'm still without resolution >_<
