Emadresh this has been going for me since I got my Amaze just two days ago back on the 6th. The router that I have is in fact a white Netgear Range Max model number WPN 824 v3. It has the dome antenna on it that lights up rather than the stick coming out of the side. I will try the factory reset Keith and let yall know what happens. Thanks for the info. Looks like we can help each other here.
I have reset my router by using the reset button on the back. You will want to unplug all the cords on back of the router but not the power cord and take a pen or needle and put in the reset button for 10 secs and it will reboot itsself. If it comes back on after about two mins and it does not work at all that means your router needs replaced but if your router is working just go to www.routerlogin.net to reset your settings and dont forget your username will be admin and your password will be password by default. Thanks so much yall
It worked??!! That's excellent. Do I need to make a new password once I reset it? Do I need to write any information down before I do this?
You will want to make a new password only if you choose to after you set up everything on your network again by going to www.routerlogin.net You really dont have to write anything down because after it resets itsself its default is admin for the username and password for the password I am running my network open to for a bit and then I will try to see if it will still work if I redo my wep key. I am afraid it is going to mess up again if I start using my wep key. Should be just find just me being weird lol
Question perryrock, is WPA an option for you? I have much better luck with that security rather than WEP.
Ok. I'll give it a shot in a bit...What's a WPA and a WEP?
They are different types of security you can put on your wireless connection.
I think I reset it, but it is not working on my amaze, still. Do I need to reset the Comcast cable box, too? How do I do that?
Resetting the cable modem is not necessary but the next step would be to troubleshoot the router, could be the type of security on the router or how it's setup, I don't have a whole lot of information on the netgear routers so that is a little beyond my reach.
Hm. I just don't understand since my computer is having no problem accessing wifi. Is there a way to be sure I reset the system?
Netgear will only help me for a fee. It seems unfair to have to pay a fee for a problem that is obviously on the phone's end.
I could see how it would appear to be the phone, but if we look at perryrock's issue for instance it worked fine with another wifi signal indicating that the phone is not to blame but that the router is either not compatible or configured properly for the phone to connect. To be honest in my experience netgear take a lot more effort to function properly with mobile devices than say linksys. You could try looking at netgear's website for instructions on perhaps temporarily removing the security to see if that could be the issue.
The strange thing is that it was working up until a few days ago. Does it matter where I plug the internet cord? There are 4 LAN ports and an internet port. Also, the login page that it told me to sign into was just transferring me to the netgear page. Why does this happen and does this matter?
I'm not familiar with the login page you are talking about I know if I want to change security settings on my linksys I open a browser window and in the address field type 192.168.1.1 and I login to change my settings. Also looking back on the thread I want to ask have you been able to perform the master reset on the device? As far as the internet cord it should be in the internet port not one of the other 4, if your laptop is getting internet it's in the right place.
Sorry for the delay. We have a newborn just 10 days old now and my wife had a c-section so I am pulling double duty taking care of them both.Thank God and t-mobile for FMLA. Anyway. If I recall right the cord for from your cable modem should go from the modem to the port that is by itself on the back of the router and then you should have another cord that goes from the #1 router port to the computer itsself in the back of the computer. I have fiber in my home so my set up is a bit different since there is no modem. The way to tell if you really reset your router is if it had a name rather than just NETGEAR the name will not show anymore when you go to www.routerlogin.net it will simply show as just NETGEAR. Keith I did check on my phone and I did not recall seeing a WPA option just WEP. I will check again though. I hope I was able to be of help emadresh. It might be a while before I can get back on.
