I posted a quick "how-to" on disabling the AirSync on DoubleTwist. It appears that that stops it from loading and searching for servers/broadcasting services... which saves the battery life. Matter of fact, after doing that (and disabling the auto refresh services so that NOTHING automatically syncs) I had my completely charged phone off the charger from midnight to 6am and the battery went from 100% to 97%... at that rate, it could stay on standby for 3+ days...

Common rep here. There is absolutely no phone with ICS and won't be until the Nexus is released. Then it'll be many months before you see any of the current phones getting it. Samsung was the last to get Froyo out to their top end phone(Vibrant) and ask the Samsung Behold customers where their Eclaire update is. If you buy Samsung and expect fast updates to the newer OS then you'll end up very disapponted. If you want the latest update then buy the Nexus phones instead or root your phone. Other than doing those two things then you're never guaranteed to see updates.
A little research before shopping would have given you the answer on whether or not the updates will come quick or at all with Samsung. Great phones but updates are not guaranteed or timely.
Does the fact that the Samsung Epic 4G just got an official Gingerbread update improve the odds any that GS4G will also?

Can you still root using SuperOneClick after installing this gingerbread update?
So, apparently there is no Galaxy S 4G compatibility for Kies Mini despite the instructions stating there is.
I have Snow Leopard running on my Mac OS X and installed both Kies and Kies Mini.
I know for a fact the Galaxy S 4G is not supported in Kies so I tried Kies Mini and plugged in my phone, went to Kies Mini option on the phone and loaded Mini.
"The device is not supported in Kies Mini" was what popped up on the screen.
My phone shows up for a short time in Kies but eventually pops up with the same message.
I contacted Samsung customer support with the number given above and was on the phone for a half hour with no resolution but "to find someone who has a PC and borrow it for 10 minutes for the upgrade".
This can't be as hard as it looks though. I mean, both Kies and Kies Mini have Mac versions so it really can't be a Mac compatibility issue. Maybe Samsung will be releasing a new Kies Mini version soon?
