Just recieved my Samsung Galaxy S... So far so good, except... I can not set one of my ringtones (songs) for incoming text messages. I have a ringtone set for phone (for incoming phone calls) but it doesnt give me the option to set as for "text messages". Do i really have to download something to be able to do this? Im having the same issue with my daughters Samsung Gravity Smart (no issue with setting text messages notifications for my Blackberry before this phone). Please advise.. thanks!
You must first bring up the Messaging program. While in messaging press Home. Then press Settings and scroll way down to Notification Settings. You will see Select Ringtone where you can set a unique ringtone for messages.
Harry - did that many times, only ringtone i can set are the normal notification tones that came with the phone. I want to set it with a music (sound) ringtone that i have.
Download Ringdroid free from the market. You can use your own music sounds for phone ringtone or text notification ringtone.
I like this app because I can crop just the section of the music I want to use.
Thanks baracuda! My friend told me about Zedge, but i dont think i can use my own ringtone, must use what they have on zedge for notification tones. I will try Ringdroid!
I am using my own ringtone for my text messaging. You don't need to download anything.
Just copy it to Files-Media-Audio-Notifications.
Then go into your text message settings and you should see it.
hahaahaa duh... Thanks Nicole!!! That makes more sense to do! Not sure why I didnt think of that.. thanks again!
I hate to download apps for ringtones when i already have a good one for them, just wanted to be able to use them for text notifications too...
If you are still out there?! I'm having problems with the same thing on my newly purchased Samsung Exhibit II 4G. How do I get to the Files-Media-Audio-Notifications part. I am so lost with this thing. Reply when you can. I'll keep trying in the meantime.
