Amaze and the no wifi issue

I love everything about this phone except for the fact that there is no wifi. I live in a very small town where I only get 2G coverage so the only way for me to really get a decent speed on my phone is to connect to my wifi. Now I may be willing to overlook that if I can still tether my phone to my laptop and use the internet because I'm out and about on business a lot. Does anyone know if that is possible with this phone? I'm desperate bc I need a really good camera on my phone bc I have to take and send many pictures of the bows and accessories I make to different clients.

It does have WiFi.  pretty simple to answer that one!

          who said it did not?

I'm sorry that was bad information from a review someone left on the phone and I didn't check it myself. I apologize for wasting your time!

That's OK I think it is neat, that HTC company is trying to distinguish themselves, by making a phone with the best camera! (and video too) so good luck with your bows and accessories.  Hope also their software is really good too. It would be nice to be able to post quick short videos of high quality easily.

To clarify - it's the wifi calling feature that was omitted from the Amaze.  Should be coming via software update a little bit after launch.

Out of the box it DOES have wifi, just not the wifi calling feature...yet. Stay tuned...

It's Better to use something like grooveIP for wifi calling, if possible for you.

Not a bad idea, with the limitation that in order to use groove IP, you need to work with google voice, which in return means that you need another phone number for google voice.

Getting a phone number with google voice is easy, and free. Also you get to pick one out of some set of choices! it's very nice in that way. (I hope this is still true!)...I got a nice one that reflects my other (TMO) number. It's registered in Winnemucca, Nevada. cool!

To tether, you can utilize the included tethering option on the device. If you go into Settings > Wireless & networks, you can enable the portable Wi-Fi hotspot.
