Glad to know you know the difference. Some people don't, so I had to ask.
Ok, you're having a full reboot -- do you have any apps installed?
A majority of problems are app related. Have you tried removing all apps and slowly adding them back (one or two a day) to see if that resolves the rebooting problem?
I've contacted T-Mobile customer service a few times, got the runaround from customer service to tech support, to "upper tier" tech support and all came to the same conclusion of waiting for an software update. Through the troubleshooting calls with T-Mobile, i've resetted my phone TWICE and both time i've used the phone stock with minimal apps on it yet i still get the rebooting issue. I really don't install many junk/game apps on my phone, the major apps i have on here are social media (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, etc.) and functionality apps such (AIM, Astro File Manager, Chase, Goggles, Google Talk, etc.). It's just becoming a hassle that i have to reset my phone everytime i call T-Mobile for troubleshooting issues regarding this reboot.
if it restarts when there's no apps installed, then it's definitely the phone.
They won't do anything if you say "minimal apps"
Gotcha, i guess i just have to keep calling T-Mobile and hopefully they can find a replacement HTC Sensation handset that won't have this problem. Thanks!
Already, THREE FULL restarts today!!! So F-ING annoying, im almost completely fed up with this phone! T-Mobile, you will be getting a call from me tonight regarding this!
I don't install any of those task managers and task killers, i've learned my lesson from past experience. Oh i've already done what you told me, believe me. I've dealt with T-Mobile customer service so many times it feels like i can do their job. I know the whole process, i've done factory reset numerous times and left the phone STOCK and it still does it. At this phone i think i just have a defective unit.
It's interesting. My phone has started to do full reboots (going all the way through the T-Mobile stick together screen) about an hour ago, and won't stop. I haven't added any new apps in over a month, but I have also noticed that it has issues staying connected to my home wifi. My tablet and computer don't have those issues so I know it's not the router/internet.
I will try my replacement battery when I get home, because I never had these issues before I swapped batteries. I swapped it with another Sensation battery (I have 2, the screen shattered on one of them, so during the hurricane I made sure I had two full batteries for just in case.), so I know it isn't a crappy battery.
I'm having the same problem but its the White HTC screen not a full system reboot, probably 1 or 3 times a day when I unlock the phone the HTC white screen comes up and restarts the whole homepage or reboot what ever you want to call it and also notice how the RAM, system memory fills up quick or memory usage. The way I see it its a typical characteristics of a>>> ANDROID still get foreclose app, battery drain, rebooting, and glitches etc . Been that way since the G1 probably will be that way till they finally get it right but I still I love Android though lol!!!!!
smplyunprdctble is exactly right. The phone is supposed to do this. T-Mobile needs to educate their customers about this.
Yeah I ran into this same problem it is so annoying. When it first started happening it was rebooting about 4 times a day. The first fix they tried was disconnecting me from the network and then reconnecting me, which worked for a couple of day they it started back up again. They next fix was remove the SD card for 2 days, same results it worked for a couple of days and started again. The last was to factory restore the phone and not install or update anything on the phone, it worked for two days and on the third it rebooted by itself. An yes I did restart the phone on my own twice during that time. They are sending me a new phone so I will post the outcome, but it might be a while this didn't start happening to me for about 2 months of owning the phone. Also I think it is so awesome that they charge you $20 to get a replacement phone for something that doesn't work correctly in the first place. Good to see t-mobile has to resort to strong arming money from people.
I am on my third Sensation....frankly, I think they are junk iPhone wannabes .... Crashes all the time. Have restored ...actually, have done everyone I can...but it's still garbage in the end! Tried to have TMobile exchange for a comparable phone and they offered one worth $150 less without compensation. Do believe that once this contract is over I may move to a different provider. Overseas phones don't have the locked out problem to use whatever phone...only in the "free-ist" nation on earth. Go figure. Over there could use my old iPhone 3G and actually had fast response. Here it only works (unlocked) at 2G speed. Deal with multiple daily crashes and reboots. Have 3 extra battery packs...cause it sucks so much juice that the battery lasts only 4 hours....maybe I should just go back to a plugged in phone...
I had My phone reboot twice in a day last week, and my wife's phone did the same thing. What I noticed is the WiFi connection was unstable and kept dropping out and reconnecting. I checked the signal in my house and sure enough had alot of interferance on the same channel as my router (alot of neighbors were using same channel as me). All I had to do is switch the channel from auto to manual and select the least used one in my neighborhood. Phones have not restarted since. Also if you have a dual band N router I would suggest routing as much traffic as possible to 5GHz line as there is way less traffic on it.
