    mirror?

Is there a mirror to the update yet?

It's being pushed OTA to devices.  So there won't be any "official" posting of it online.

The only place we'll be able to get another copy is via 3rd party developer sites.

But so far it does not seem anyone has mentioned getting it yet.

I understand its not official. I tried looking over on xda but they have a pop up that fills the screen and won't close.

I've never waited for an ota. I've always updated myself all the way back to the G1 getting cupcake.

Was just wondering if someone knows of a mirror to pull the update from yet.

Ok... I'll admit it.. I'm an idiot.

When I read this post last night, I thought you were looking for an update to the Mirror app and was gonna chime in with "I hope so.. I hate that it keeps showing a Treasure Troll instead of me when I look in" -- then I read it again this morning and realized what was going on.

I was talking about it with someone else last night.  Hoping the update file gets posted somewhere (knowing it's going to be a fairly large file).

XDA usually has the files first (rather, they get posted there first)

That is not the full and complete update.  HTC has already informed T-Mobile that's not the full complete update.

Anyone that only wants the official update and to keep their device "stock" should only get the update OTA to their device.

Are you sure, darnell?  Because that's the exact file my phone downloaded as part of the OTA.

Now, I do agree with you that if you manually update it and mess something up, it's your own fault.  But, in my opinion, you're just manually doing something that would have been automated (which could have messed something up on it's own accord, but that's not the philosophical discussion I'm in the mood to have).

Either way, it's the same file OTA as if you manually download it and apply it.  It's the full and complete update (for now).  I don't know where you're getting this info that it's not.

...That being said, I'm not advocating manually downloading it and applying it.

Someone saying HTC said something is not an official source.

I can say that HTC has said flying monkeys will come out of your phone if you root it a certain way.  Doesn't mean it's true

If you had been following enough of the threads.  You would know that T-Mobile contacted HTC directly about this matter and that was HTC's official response to T-Mobile.

mikem is not some average Joe Blow.  He's a content editor here.  You should heed the warning and not take it so lightly.  He has been trying to post the statement in various places as a warning to you and others.

Some people have put a copy of the file they obtained from their own device online after their Sensation downloaded the OTA update.  But that file on the HTC web site is one that HTC themselves have already said is not the full, final update.

Let me make myself perfectly clear, the OTA updated/upgrade link here http://www.mediafire.com/?7sken3fd04tn57t came direct from HTC via OTA.... I did not get the OTA update/ upgrade from the HTC website ....

                          • 12. Re: mirror?

If HTC has another OTA update/upgrade, then I will replace the above file... I have tested and extracted all the files from the above file, so I know it's the real deal without corruption...(lol) The truth of the matter which way is best, which way is the safest to install the OTA update/upgrade...

The OTA download can cause problems also, we have already seen that, because you stand a big chance of data drops/packet loss, now your OTA update/upgrade file is corrupt, lost icons, certain functions don't work.... This is the reason also why I recommend installing ALL OTA update/upgrades via WiFi, most likely a better signal connection.....

I would prefer installing the OTA update/upgrade off of my SD Card, but everybody does not know how to do this, therefore I would recommend the OTA upgrade via HTC...

The reason I prefer to install the OTA update/upgrade off of my SD Card, because most likely I would not encounter any data drops/packet loss, rendering the file corrupt....

                              darnell

                              So I said:

Some people have put a copy of the file they obtained from their own device online after their Sensation downloaded the OTA update. But that file on the HTC web site is one that HTC themselves have already said is not the full, final update.

You do realize I was making a very clear distinction between what you uploaded from your Sensation, versus what is on the HTC site that many people are linking to, don't you?  Let me be clear, I'm advising caution regarding what is on HTC's site, since T-Mobile asked HTC about that HTC.com link and HTC told them there is no direct download. And the only full final update is available OTA.  You posted what you got OTA.

I'm not saying people should use a method other than OTA, but I'm also not saying what you uploaded from your Sensation is anything less than the full final update everyone else is being sent OTA.

I have never posted any warning in any thread you posted your link to. I know mikem did post the statement in one of the threads you put your link in and he's been posting that on almost every link in the forums.  (I guess to the ones he notices.)  But the statement HTC made to T-Mobile was about the HTC.com link.  And so I've linked to mikem's statement in cases where someone posted the HTC.com link, because HTC themselves said they have not posted the full final Sensation update on any web site.  Granted, no T-Mobile employee is going to advise anyone to download from any 3rd party source, but the HTC.com link many are posting as a mirror is of a file that HTC is saying likely is not the full final update.

Are we clear in understanding now hitekone?  I have not been talking about your link and been making an effort to make a distinction, for anyone who desires to assume the risks involved with using a file they did not download on their own OTA to their Sensation.

All the same yes, someone using WiFi to download OTA is the most reliable source.

Look darnell, I'm not into he said, she said, they said, I'm just enjoying the new found abilities of my new T-mobile HTC Sensation 4G via the HTC OTA update/upgrade, that's all that matters to me, chill out dude, please man....!(lol)
