Happy? or buyer's remorse with HTC Amaze 4G coming

kalel33

I'm surprised there hasn't been a discussion on the HTC Amaze 4G started yet.  It's pretty much an HTC sensation with increase in data speed(42Mbps data radio), processor speed(1.5Ghtz processor), and RAM(1GB).  The big rumor is that it might not come with Sense, which to some is a good thing(increased speed) and some a bad(not as elegant and lacking is some areas).  It'll be interesting when it comes out.

Leaked report has it and the Samsung Hercules being released on October 26th.  I was planning on getting the Hercules but was planning on it coming in September

I'm happy. I love sense 3.0. This device is snappy enough for what I use it for and I love the way it looks and feels

I would not be at all surprised if the Ruby/Amaze also has NFC. I was aware of it coming, before I got my Sensation.  The way I see it, you can always wait till tomorrow and tomorrow something new is always promised.  But today I've got a device I'm happy with and for me that's the bottom line .

Only thing I'm ticked about is how HTC handled the bootloader issue, but 3rd party developers have resolved that for me in a manner better than HTC's proposed method.  Really, that's the only issue I was considering holding off buying over.

I am not bothered at all.  Just like Darnell says...  Something better will always come out.

The way I have always seen it...  If the devices doesn't have everything you need then what's the point buying it?  Wouldn't it be better to wait for something that has everything you need?  So far the Sensation has exceeded my expectations, and I don't mind waiting for something better than the Ruby

Honestly, I would rather have a Sense device. Sense is pretty well optimized for smoothness and speed, so it's not a big difference from stock, but it offers many and more improvements. For one, I'd never want to be stuck with the stock camera app. Or the stock contacts/dialer app, either.

I am hoping that when I send the Sensation back (Mobilizer program) that they send me a Hercules. I've never had a TouchWiz phone, or a SAMOLED screen, and am curious as to the experience.

Yea, I'm hoping other OEMs catch up to what HTC has done with the speed of the Sensation camera.  I was in my car yesterday and road by something I wanted to take a quick picture of before the light changed and I had to drive off.  Well my Sensation was in the car holder and I didn't want to bother with having to unhook the power cable and pull it out to snap the picture.  I also had my Blackberry just sitting there on my hip, so I pulled out the Blackberry since it was not doing anything else anyway.  I opened the Blackberry camera app and pressed the shutter on what I wanted a picture of, just as I was having to move forward since the light changed to green and the line of cars I was in was starting to move.  The Blackberry camera is sooooo slooowwww.  It failed to capture the shot and did not take a pic till I had already pulled the thing down into my lap and it took a picture of my leg .  I'm so spoiled by the speed of the Sensation camera, I was sure the few seconds I held the device up after pressing the shutter button was more than enough time, but turns out it was not.  Lame.  I'll be sure to pull the Sensation out of its holder next time.

if it's an HTC phone it'll have to come with some version of Sense ... but after the Amaze there will likely be the Glorious and after that the Spectacular ... and there's rumor of the HTC Extravagant coming lol

there's always something better ... but therein lies the problem with TMO really ... i understand the need to provide a great selection of phones which they have but it all comes at the expense of making each one of them obsolete so to speak ...

before the Sensation even got a chance to breathe there was the myTouch 4G Slide with its "best camera of any phone" .. and now with the Ruby and Amaze it's like they've already thrown it to the back burner.

that has been the problem with TMO ... no phone that they feature for more than a few weeks.  and that just makes you look like a company that doesn't know what the hell it wants to do and makes a consumer confused.

i've always maintained that TMO would've done better at sticking with a featured phone.  no one knows what phone is THE phone to have with TMO.

    ATT - iPhone

    VZ - Droid

    Sprint - EVO

TMO - myTouch, Sidekick, Sensation, HD7, Slide ??? which is it?

and all these companies do well and better with a clear strategy at what they market to the consumer.  and it's never at the expense of making their other phones obsolete.

oh well .. just my two cents

I waited for what seems like forever for TMO to get the Samsung Galaxy S2, but finally gave in and got the Sensation because I gave up on no info on the other phone.  Now they announce the Hercules will be the Galaxy S2 for TMO arriving Oct 26.  Figures, just my luck.  Oh well I'm locked in contract for 2 years now, so doesn't really matter anymore.  And I'm happy with the Sensation for now anyway.

Try to keep up with blogs that run news about devices.  The Hercules coming was known way before the Sensation was released.  In fact, the entire roadmap for most of the year has been known since way earlier this year.  The SGS II was not on the list by name, but the Hercules was and its specs were known, so no shock Hercules is the SGS II for T-Mobile.  And last year it was known that T-Mobile USA would go hard and strong with various Android devices.

Given I came to T-Mobile from Sprint, this is one of the reasons I left Sprint.  They don't get enough various devices, too few choices, too locked in.  With a GSM based carrier like T-Mobile there's lots of choices and I prefer that.

I totally disagree with this being a reason why T-Mobile's competitors do better.  But I don't want to get into the reasons why T-Mobile has high negative churn in this thread.

well to me it is ... most consumers aren't as "smart" or rather die hard as those who visits message boards, blogs etc .. they need to be force fed what they want and TMO just doesn't do that.

i'd imagine 80% of the people who bought an iPhone initially and those who continue to do so do it because they think it's the only option .. ATT markets the bananas out of it as being THE phone to have with ATT ..

TMO not so much .. they aim moreso at their network than the phones on it.  i can't recall seeing a commercial for the myTouch 4G Slide for weeks now lol ... have never seen one for the Sensation.

the only TMO commercials i see are for its network.

TMO has way better phones than either network .. but judging by the customer comparisons you'd never know.  and the reason at least in my opinion is because of what i mentioned.

    but oh well no worries

that phone, amaze or whatever, is fugly!!!  (imho)

I'm perfectly happy with my Senny.

If you get an opportunity to talk with people in various parts of the country, as to why they REFUSE to EVER use T-Mobile.  You'd know why T-Mobile is "trying" to laud their "network".  They know the deal and what customers are saying and they're not crying about a phone.

Hi Kalel.  It's good to see you having fun with a post instead of working overtime to help the unhappy customers.  Your dedication is noteworthy and I wanted to take a moment to say thanks!

I'm happy with my Sensation.  I have been waiting for this phone since February, when it was called the Pyramid.  Really, it was before that, because I liked the HTC EVO 4G, but didn't want to be on Sprint.  I hoped that T-Mobile would come out with something similar and better, as time went on.

I don't know where I was hiding, but I didn't know about the HTC Amaze 4G until right before I saw your post.  The only thing that I would probably notice is the 42mbps speed.  The extra processor speed and memory is great, but I'm not having problems with the Sensation that would make me wish I had something better.

One of the things that made me want an HTC phone was so that I could finally experience Sense for myself.  I have had the vanilla Android experience and liked it.  However, I wanted to see what a good skin could do, and the Sensation with Sense 3.0 has not disappointed me.

Good advice indeed.  It would just be nice if TMO would actually educate any sales associates that actually work in their stores.  Of all the stores I went into during my searches, not one idiot had even heard of the Galaxy S2, and certainly couldn't provide any info on it.  I did try to follow the phone as much as possible on sites like GSMArena.com but I overlooked the Hercules and they never could nail down any kind of a release date any better than a guess.  So that was another reason I went ahead and grabbed up the Sensation.
