So I'm currently a TMO user and have and my Myfaves (grandfathered) plan contract expires in June. Given I'm not fond of any current T-Mobile branded devices I'm considering going the factory unlocked route.
I am absolutly gaga over the new Sony Xperia Z & ZL phones anounced just last month. According to GSM arena these have the 1700 & 2100 MHz spectrum to run on TMO's 4G network. Is this true?
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C6602 (looks like the C6602 model would be the Tmobile compatable device)
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C6502, C6506
Thoughts, suggestions or will these indeed not work on the Tmobile network?
I would say yes it would work. Even after a reframe. Though I am not 100% sure due to the fact it may meet the spectrum it might not support AWS which is just as important.
I was looking at Sony's developer white pages to get more detailed information on the device's specs and features. It looks like there will be multiple versions of each of these devices and not all versions will work with our 4G network (Band IV 1700/2100 MHz). The versions you listed (C6602, C6502, C6506) are all stated to support Band IV so they should work on T-Mobile's network.
Hope this helps!
To continue the thread, it looks like the ZL supports LTE
UMTS HSPA+ 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 LTE Band I, Band II, Band IV, Band V and Band XVII
There will be a TMO branded Z coming soon too that will also support LTE.
