Just got the update about an hour ago. I went to the store yesterday and the associate didn't know that they had the update in. One other associate chimed in and said that they did, however he said "come back in an hour, I'm about to do mine." How rude! So I went to another store today and again the associate hadn't a clue what I was talking about. Then she told me that they didn't get it in yet. Went back to the first store, the first associate again had no clue what I was talking about. Then the other guy says "yeah I know about it but I'm not doing it because I'm not going to responsible for erasing someone's data." I reply with I've already backed up my data, the he's like soon as get done with this customer I'll do it. The customer was new, needless to say that took about an hour. Finally, the update was done in about 15 minutes. Oh happy day. Love it!
Southside of Chicago by the way.
This is the most disturbing situation I have endured through Tmobile and this is after I waited to recieve a phone I ordered online through the mail that the rep never ordered and I had to eventually go to the store to purchase it......smh. Anywhoo I guess my concern is what determines those that recieve the OTA message to update as oppose to those that wait, and wait, and wait? Regardless of the numbers until we can equally obtain the update I think we all should be forced to wait. Tmobile should have never agreed to thisprocess on behalf of their customers.

The reason that updates are rolled out like this is to protect the customers. If they send the update to 10 million devices, and the update is bad, they have now given 10 million customers a bad experience at best, and they could even brick 10 million phones.
Now, say they roll out to 500k phones a day (In practice I doubt the number is that high), now they can find any bugs or issues before the update has been spread to all customers. It makes perfect sense. In fact, one of my phones (MyTouch 3G, I think) there was an update that started to roll out, and then was canceled after a day or two as it was creating more problems than it solved.
If you want the update that bad, go into a store. The reps have zero motivation to do it for you. I let one rep talk me out of it. I will probably go back in a day or two to have it done, because I like playing with that stuff...
Radio Shack employee here with the mytouch 4g, anyone from t-mobile know if radio shack dealers are going to get the sd cards with the update. I really want GB on my phone but don;t know how to root and hate waiting for stuff.
I do totally understand what your saying and I was fortunate to be able to go into the Tmobile store today and get the update which is what they should have had everyone do in the first place. But when it gets right down to it we will have some issues one way or another with the update no matter the time it launches for everyone or one person a day for the next fifteen years.............just think Tmobile really didnt think this one through for the customers sake.
I had a varied experience with my update. I have a G2 and MyTouch 4g. Both didnt receive the OTA, so i did the manual official update for the G2. For the MyTouch, i called in on the 6th to fight with the store because they obviously didnt know what i was saying and were not informed. Instead i waited, and on the 8th i called in and they finally received them. After going in, another customer service employee looked at my phone, WENT through my apps, and decided to call tmobile to request the OTA manually, which is impossible. Instead after 10 minutes, i requested for someone else WHO knows what they are doing (who i spoke to on the phone), and the next employee took the phone to the back and update it in about 30 min.
G2 updated in 7 min (manual/myself). MyTouch 4g updated in about 30 min (tmo SD)
I agree!! Going to the TMo store 4 the update is silly!
!!!! I went to the tmobile store today and she told me I could do it myself by going to the support website .... -_- FAIL!
I tried 4 different stores today, got it on the 4th yea!
not seeing a whold lot of difference for the most part....
tmo store in Denver at S.Colo Blvd and Mexico
Called 2 of the stores around my house, One had it, one didn't; the one that had the MicroSD card with the update didn't even know how to update it. She sat there looking at the instructions, put the SD card in, and......... TURNED IT ON! I looked at her like shes crazy...... take my phone back and said watch. I tuned it off, and back on in HBoot like she should have. I even showed her how to update it. SAD when the customers know how to do it and have to show them how to.... guess she didn't know how to read.
My T-Mobile store just got the update it's like give or take 5-7 miles away from my house and now I'm contemplating on going cause it seems a bit pathetic to be going out my way to go grab it haha, But I am lMFAO! I can't wait for the OTA
