Ok, I have talked to three different T-Mo reps in the last three days and they all said basically the same thing. There is nothing wrong with the phones, before GB or after GB, remember I do not have the GB update yet and I too am getting the "Failed Connection" message. It is normal to get those messages from time to time. The server's are set up to PUSH an update to newer phones such as the G2x. The older phones have to check for updates manually that is why they have the "Check for Updates" tab. It has not been taken out of the newer software yet.
As far as the GB update, the PUSH is over. If you didn't get the message OTA then you'll have to use LG's support tool. They did not say anything about taking the phone to a T-Mo store to have it done or sending the phone to LG as I have read in other posts. I didn't ask because I just read those today after talking to the third rep so I don't know if that is an option or not. LG's support tool was the only option they mentioned.
So that is what I found out from three different reps on three different days. It seemed pretty consistent to me. I guess I'll update mine with the support tool this weekend when I have time. Good luck to all others and if anyone needs the support tool link, here it is.
OK this tells me that the 1 report i saw of recieving the ota in the last few days is probably not accurate.
2nd that the ota was canceled due to the continued problems.
Ota updates do not normally go out 1 time to a phone than disapear.
at least on verizon you could recievve the update over and over if you downgraded it would show the update again.
in fact we had to make changes to our roms so they wouldnt continue to recieve update notifications.
I am very happy overall with tmobiles 4g network(dont care if its officially 4g or not) 10 megs down is fast enough for me.
But I have real questions about tmobiles internal training, communication and knowledge on how to handle the phones themselves.
Maybe the old great customer service rating was because oldder phones didnt have all the complexity of todays so there wasnt much to tech support for them other than send them in and well fix or replace.
I really cant seem to explain anything else.
if you use lg to update we wont support it
go use lg update tool since we wont send you an ota
you have to send it in now
no you can only go to lg's site
no you can go to the store and they will do it for you
no no store seems to actually do this
reminds me of a few vacations i have been on.
water pump goes out-steaming
propane leaked so its empty after just dilling it-raging
batteries are dead-homicidal
roof is leaking----laughing and nothing else bothers you becfause its just too unbelievable now and is just a joke.
So I'm wonering if this latest OTA update is still in progress or over? My phone certainly hasn't updated...
