I see the new search features on my g-slate now.
So although Google may say itis 3.1 or higher, seems like 3.01 or higher would be true.
This information is from Dan Anderson, Social Media manager for T-Mobile. He has and uses a G-Slate, and has confirmed an update is in the works. Understandably, Mr. Anderson did not want to give a timeline for the update.
There you have it. We will be getting an update, complete with bug fixes and some great additions like gTalk over 4G and Google Movies.
Everyone can relax and enjoy your tablet. We will get an update.

That statement doesnt mean anything.
Android will also be releasing Ice Cream Sandwich. But thats like months away. Windows 8 is in the works and will be coming out too, yet again months away.
Saying they will be releasing 3.1 in the near future is just plain stupid. They need to make it public and official.
T-Mobile and LG completely failed big time with the G-slate. I paid over $600 for this thing no mentions of updates and try selling them on Ebay. They are going for tops $400.
It is very clear this tablet will be the last of all of them to get updates. Not acceptable.
Companies like Asus and Acer release their tablets and within weeks they are updated to 3.2 not 3.1 but 3.2
You have to see where some of us are coming from here.
LG and t-mobile major companies. They should of had this update out months ago.
You dead wrong FIRST of all didn't pay for an unfinished product which is 3.01. Part of the money isn't for just the device its for many things including the box it comes in down to the little plastic that covers the charger.... Also included in that price is the security of knowing that our OS will not be left behind. This is an android device not something I picked up from some fruit store.. Why would I buy something knowing it was the only device that would never get an OS upgrade if it was available???? guess that's your state of mind and you can live with that I don't have too.... Either LG can get off their butts and get it done which the story is they finally have but still know that it will take some time to get an OTA pushed out. YOU sir should buy a good ol fashioned track phone if you are happy without OS upgrades I for one stick to android for one reason I love the OS. and want any and all OS updates that come.. I am entitled, I own it. I wouldn't be entitled if I didn't own it.... so yeah give me what is owed
Actually, nowhere in your contract or in the promises from LG was it stated you are gauranteed updates. That's like a an original G1 owner complaining they haven't gotten Gingerbread. The fact is, you are not gauranteed these updates or that they will be done in what one would consider a "timely manner".
Also, as the owner of an adroid device, you always have options. You can root the phone and install a rom from the XDA developers.
Look at it this way, you buy a laptop 3 years ago with Windows Vista, you didn't automatically get an upgrade to Windows 7, you had to pay for it. With your Android device, like I said you can install a different Android OS if you root the device (I've actually done this on a Nook which turned it into a fully functioning Android tablet before they updated the OS for it), or you have the right to buy a different device once it comes out because it's running the newest thing, so similar to buying a new laptop because it is running the latest version of Windows with better hardware.
Unless it is specifically stated that an update is gauranteed, then you are not entitled to an update. These companies go above and beyond to give you something more than what you paid for (which is the device the way it is when it comes out...unless it's a situation like with the Motorola Zoom, which they stated at the time of sale buyers would be able to send it in to get a 4G upgrade, which that is just starting several months after the device started being sold). The G-Slate has only been out for a few months...give them time to get stuff out to you. Don't expect the moment a new version of Android hits the market that you are going to get it right away...or even at all.

I couldn't agree more.
Your still wrong LG agreed to support this device includeing its OS for 18 months. If LG decides not to, fine I already wouldnt buy anything from LG at gunpoint. LG has a contract as well... when it sells devices in the US it has to maintain a certain quality level which bb looking at alot of its products it has not. LG also has a class action against and 3 more pending... not related to the mobile devision. LG has no morals. They will have to change the name again....you would think that they had learned a lesson or two guess not. They do owe me and every other owner.
LOL your two funny I bet you walk to work and own a kitten. I am a red blooded American and by that I mean that If I purchased something I will not lay down and take it like a girl. People don't fight for what's right anymore accepting things that are wrong is even worse than the wrong doers. People like you hide in your closet when bullets fly begging for someone to hold your hand thru the dark nights. But your not entitled to that. I have had a job since I was 15 paying social security taxes that I will never collect, someone else who refuses to work and always votes will get that. I at least should be entitled to a thank you from those weak willed souls who have only what they have by the grace of those who toil. You know nothing son and will not till you have hardship.
- Learn to use your and you're correctly.
- Learn to use two, too and to correctly.
Makes you less effective in making your arguments when what you type makes you sound illiterate.
> I will not lay down and take it like a girl
Then quit WHINING like one.
Crimany I've never heard so much prattling from someone who thinks 'they is all growed up'...
Can we get back to the topic.
I am a software developer and the company I work for does provide bug fixes and updates to our customers, those that have purchaesed a support agreement. Our customers pay for software upgrades.
When my offiice 2007 software was replaced with office 2010, did Microsoft let me download that new version for free? No I puchaed an upgrade, although it was less than the full new license. OS, I still run Windows Vista on one computer and Windows 7 on others, why, I am cheap and don't want to spend the $$ to upgrade the old PC.
Think of this another way, I have a LG stove/oven, the newwest model had more control modes for setting the tempature and a timer, woudl I expect LG to "upgrade" my stove/oven, no....
If the item was defective then they have the option of fixing or replacing.
is your g-slate defective? no, Should it be lighter? have a SD memory card slot? Sure that would be nice, but I purchased this item knowing the full specifications. I had 14 days to return to t-moble if I wanted to.
Is it usefel " as is" yes, I use it every day. I read email, watch video including now Netflix, take picutres (3d not so much, gimmick), browse web sites, keep up on the news, weather, I use it for a grocery list, etc, etc.
Could it be better with a newer version of Android, yes. Should I get this for free. That would be nice, although not expected. Would I rather wait for a good clean tested upgrade? sure. I don't mind waiting although it would be nice to see a product roadmap and have some communications on what is coming or not coming.
so there you have it. We should all just wait and enjoy our g-slate today.
This is not Winblows its linux its open source. I get OS upgrades all the time from Ubuntu. Your comparing apples and oranges..
Sure Android is open source and avaialble at no cost. In fact I have downloaded the SDK myself.
This just means that LG/T-mobile does not have a license cost for Android. Which is good for everyone.
I am sure there are some hardware specifc parts that LG added to make their device function and T-mobile has added some content.
Some of the software tools my company uses is open source, but we still sell our products for real money.
We sell a complete product with services.
You could always root your phone and install another version of android on your own.
I have done that with a older windows mobile device. It no longer has any t-mobile anything on it but has windows mobile 6.5. T-mobile never released and will never release a new version for this old phone. Not a problem. Just a fact.
This dicussion is about a software release form LG/T-mobile with their included content (bloatware?)
