I'm guessing the problems are from noobs who have never done an OTA update.

Got the update this morning... everything went smoothly.  Nothing was deleted or changed as far as settings or apps.  Now I have just have to wait and see if any of the issues I had have been fixed....

Anyone else getting and gray/black screen when you press the sleep button to wake the phone.. I start noticing that this morning. I do hope this is not a issue now..

**** I meant to say "battery life is beyond horrible".  My phone has been off the charger since 830AM and it is currently at 72% - 5 hours later.  I have made 1 phone call and sent a couple texts.  What can I do to fix this???

  • 110. Re: G2X Software Update

I had the same issue and had to do a hard reset, now I am back to charging everyother day.. you will loose all install apps and settings... Hope this helps.

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may erase all downloaded content, including ringtones, images, programs, and contacts stored in the internal memory. It does not erase data stored on the SIM card or memory card (if available).

To perform a master reset using the hardware keys, follow these steps:

    1. Back up all necessary data. See: Prepare for a master reset and back up data on Android
    2. Turn off the phone.
    3. Press and hold the  Power and Volume Down, key.
    4. The phone will turn on and display the LG Logo
    5. Wait 30 seconds and thephone will display the open box and arrow pointing towards the phone.
    6. Release the keys, and the phone will reset back to the start up screen.

I did a master reset after receiving the OTA - it doesn't seem to have helped.  Maybe it's just the battery .  I really do love this phone, but it seems to be having more and more problems lately.

I have found that bluetooth is a real battery hog on this phone.  Do you have bluetooth turned on?  If so try turning it off when you are not using it.  Alss like you stated   could be a bad battery.

I haven't used the bluetooth today, but I usually do turn it off when not in use.

Other things that suck up battery:

    1) Various sync items other than Google such as Facebook, Tango, multiple e-mail accounts, etc.

    2) Display brightness

    3) GPS (I only turn this on when I am ready to invoke Google Navigation)

Make sure you don't have any unnecessary apps running in the background.  I don't recommend task killers.

You can only freeze or delete system apps if the phone is rooted.

Hello!  I have yet to receive last year's OTA and am still on 2.2.2.  Any suggestions?  When I try to request the update from the phone I get the following error message, "Connection failed caused by authentication error." I have a LGP999, version V10f, Kernel 2.6.32.9, Build number, FRG839.

I tried manually updating from LG but the Phone Software Download Tool hangs up and doesn't send me the update.  Any suggestions out there?

I just got the update this morning and so far its pretty good no problems yet.   I suggest u go to tmobile and talk to them about it they might replace it with a new one that has the 2.3 on it and u probably have to wait may 14 for the update manual.  Maybe but if they do replace it expect a 20 dollar exchange fee unless u have insurance on ur phone it might be free. But the LG update tool should have updated ur software since the lastest one on their is 2.3.3. I might be wrong but I suggest calling or going to tmobile

since you didn't do the 2.3.3 update and if you are not having any issues with the phone, you may not want to do the update. you'll lose the LG camera app for the stock camera app.  this is not a major OS update.

Well were gonna lose it anyway once we upgrade to 2.4 or even I'm hopping ics.
