why is the sensation 4g off the line up, is it discontinued?
Yes it is, end of life (EOL); this was declared a couple of weeks ago.
I think that's crazy, there isn't a single tmo phone I'd buy right now to replace it, and forget about the One S. I wonder why Tmo is content to have mediocre phones in its lineup?
While I would say most are but the amaze is better then the sensation.
Also you have the galazy s 2, the blaze 4g too. All high end android phones.
ima try the htc amaze (the sensation clone) & see how that works
do u know why it was discontinued?
The Amaze 4G is basically a Sensation with faster radio and processor and better camera. It also has some internal design changes with regards to the memory structure, 16GB of on board memory with an empty microSD card slot. The Sensation is being replaced by the hTC One S, which is like an Amaze with faster processor better camera and no microSD card slot.
The Amaze might be in stock some places, just like the Sensation might be in stock some places. But the Amaze went EOL even before the Sensation did.
I said mediocre because there isn't anything that I personally would consider a major leap forward above the sensation. Yes, the amaze is slightly faster but if you are interested in rooting it you can't even get ICS on it yet. The Galaxy line I'm not too fond of, the S2 screen isn't as nice as the sensation and the blaze isn't any better than sensation performance. The one S has only 16 gb's of storage and no way to ever improve it, my sensation has a 32 gig card that easily has 16 gbs on it right now.
djs2013 - This happens every year or even faster than that. You buy a device today, next year it will be EOL and a newer device will take it's place.
I think they found they don't keep customers signing new contracts if they keep the older stuff on the shelves, and older is counted in months these days .
I just wonder why they discontinued it. I love it and have had little to no problems other than the battery which I took care of myself. I guess it is just the electronic world. Something new every year that has 1 new feauture on it.
t-mo is really making me scratch my head lately. Not only are the phones either late arriving to the network (galaxy s II), immediately surplanted with a half-baked upgrade (Sensation to Amaze) or they get middle of the pack phones (One S). On top of this the LG G2x is just now getting a Gingerbread update and the Samsung line of phones have been skipped over for ICS updates (for the moment). something is really foul here. I, along with you, am not even thinking about the One S contraption. non- extendable memory and embedded crappy battery!?!? No thanks. The only thing keeping my Sensation alive is the fact that there are some great ROM's available once you root the thing. That's it.
I'm having battery issues with mine as well. How did you resolve your issue? New battery? If so what type and where can I purchase it?
Is that why the Sensation is currently free with 2 yr contract) on the T-Mobile website? When it says EOL (end of life), does that mean that they will no longer sell it after all the free ones are gone? I actually just noticed it was free yesterday and was surprised because of what I originally paid for it 9-10 months ago lol! Another question, a few months ago, I has asked if anyone heard about the Samsung Galaxy Note coming to T-Mobile. Now, I have seen a couple of places stating (hopefully not rumors) that it will possibly be coming to TMO. Has anyone else heard that or can someone confirm it? I did hear that today,
