Sometimes cannot make or receive calls.

Why is it that sometimes I am not able to make calls and likewise incoming calls go straight to voice mail. I usually don't find out until am about to make a call, mean while my calls have been going to voice mail. I have to power off and on to make the phone work. I find that really annoying.

Are you using any type of downloaded task killer?  (A pattern of mine is to always rule something silly like that out ...)

How is your signal when you have this problem?

Aside from when you DO have this problem, how often do you reboot your phone?

            I use the task manager

I generally have good signal. The phone usually attempts to make the call, but disconnects instantly within a split second.

I have had the phone 15 days. How often should I reboot?

Is wi-fi calling on?  It'll show a blue square wifi calling icon in the upper left of your notification bar if it is.  Try turning it off and back on.  Wi-fi calling can be finnicky, and I have mine set to "cell network preferred" so I only use it if no cell signal is available.  If it's not on, and you have a good signal, and rebooting it doesn't fix anything, I'd try contacting T-Mobile as there may be an actual hardware-related defect in the radio or elsewhere...  I generally reboot every 2-3 days just to clean the cache and what not.

I'd suggest against using any downloaded task killer, and perhaps even not using the built in one just for testing purposes.

I'd also suggest daily reboots, although I do not always do that myself.

If you're rebooting less often than once a day, and you're always rebooting when you have issues (say every 2-3 days), you may just want to increase your reboot frequency.

I cant belive Tmobile will even sell a phone that must be rebooted everyday or you will miss calls? I am having the same problem with my phone as many others..it stops makeing and recieving calls almost every day...I have tryed dozens of hard reboots, a new sim, a new phone, many many calls to tmobil and cannot solve this problem. I dnt think i should hav to restart my phone everyday, and still miss calls wen it stops working before i restart it...It happens regardless of what apps are installed, if any, regardless of were i am, regardless of wether wifi is off or on, regardless of wether gps is off or on, ect....I hav been with tmobil for over 10 years and never had a complaint, but this is unaceptable...Tmobile has no idea why im having this problem...If they are not willing to replace my phone with a different one that actually works, I will be forced to cancel my plan..and if they refuse to either fix the problem or let me off my contract i will be calling my lawyer. Im spending alot of money on a phone that dosent work and is also costing me more money due to mised calls! why hav a phone that can do everything but make phone calls!

I have concluded that Samsung Galaxy S II is a colosal failure. I can't even get the battery to last a whole day.

Sorry you feel that way.  There are very few android phones that will last a complete day without recharging. Try turning off features like Wi-fi and Bluetooth when they are not in use.  I think resetting everyday is a bit extreme but that depends on your usage.  I reboot like maybe once or twice a week.  Now the battery here are some suggestions.  Once a month allow your phone to completely discharge.  To the point where the phone shuts off, preferably at night, then go ahead an charge the phone up to 100% overnight. This should help maxiumize battery usage. Last but not least.  I would check the coverage area, since you're having these problems it sounds like tower issues and this needs to go to a higher level of tech support.

It's not necessarily an issue where a certain phone was launched that has to be rebooted every day...it's that to manage Android properly we should reboot it every day.
