Maybe they are actually using it for anonymous handset statistics, instead of snooping. Oh, and I remember an article from android central where they say you can opt out of collection. At least on the HTC unlocked version.
This may cover the carrier IQ on tmobile, but I only time will tell.
Yeah there is now a option to opt out of the service.
