Just because a product is eol does not mean that no longer is supported.
As of right now there is no time frame for ics.
And for the record eol just indicates that they will no longer be selling it as a new device. May come back as refurbished from my understanding but no new sales as something has either came out or coming out to replace it.
Since when has LG or TMO supported this phone?
Oh sure, they gave us an update that fixed some problems but created others.
We've sucked hind teat since this day one year ago (it was 4/20/11 that the phone was available at retail).
Really, we get that you think that this phone, LG and T-Mobile suck. But, can we please get a break from all the negative posts. Not everyone has had your experiences, but the constant bashing is getting really old (which is precisely the reason I stopped coming to this forum).
I started this post trying to be helpful for those that still have the phone and maybe wanted to try the upgrade. I understand that this is the Internet, freedom of speech, and all that. But, really...

I understand you have a grudge against LG, TMO, android and anything else which does not meet your perfect standards. But how has LG not supported the phone? LG has released (soon to be) 2 OS updates. TMO will replace the phone if it's broken. What on this 2.3.4 update is broken (it's not even officially out yet). And from the reports, it sounds like it does fix a lot of the common issues. LG could still release ICS for this phone - they have not said otherwise.
give it a rest.
@darjae9805.I totaly agree with you.I use the phone a lot and I don't see so many problems.
U did a great job to inform us about updates.
I couldn't agree more. I may be the minority here, but I find this phone to be the best smartphone I've ever owned.
Just a minor news update.
I have been running the new softare v21y on mine now for over 48 hours now and have 50 hours 27 minutes uptime.
No crashes reboots or freezes at all. No even need to reboot it yet.
And I have over 80 apps on device.
And I think I did mention before that it is working wifi calling on any sim card even the new new ones.
I have about the same up time, but I'm rooted. Phone is the best it ever was. People, demand your update!
An OTA update is coming starting April 23 (today). You'll be able to manually update from LG's site starting May 14.
I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.....I have version LP999-v21e - will I have to do the update manually or will it be receiving an OTA? I really love this phone and would REALLY love for the random roboots to stop.
Not everyone gets an OTA at the same time...you may not get the notification for a few days or so, but you should get it. The message that shows on your phone is very obvious.
As of last night about 6 PM EDST:
Software # LG-P999-V21y
I do see they added Google + Personally for me, uncecessary
Seems like battery is going a bit longer.
I took a pic with front facing camera, did not seem as grainy. Not sure if there was a change there.
leahc, you should get the OTA sometime between now and May 14. However, even if you don't get the update via OTA by May 14, after that date is when you'll be able to manually update your phone using the LG support tool. Either way, you'll get the update
2.3.4 was just pushed to me OTA, so those who haven't gotten it yet should be getting it soon. Oh, it does take 15min or so to download and install. Additionally, it will appear stalled during the kernel portion of the update; it isn't. Be patient, kids ;-)
