_David M: If you are porting your number out, you will just need to provide your new carrier with your information.
_David M: Once the number is ported out it will cancel the account.
_David M: You will be charged for the months service.
Tina Williamson: I don't need to do anything once # is ported?
Tina Williamson: Buy out on all phones on contract is $200, right?
_David M: That is correct, the Early Termination Fee is $200.00 per line.
Tina Williamson: Im not sure if you can answer this, why can't or isn't T Mobile willing to do anything about my phone issue? I have had 4 - 5 phones since November doing the same thing .... Sidekick 4G ... freezing, shutting down and applying NUMEROUS letters when texting and hit 1 letter ....

_David M: From the Home Screen, open your Applications and go to the Task Manager.
Tina Williamson: ok
_David M: Select the RAM Manager tab, and tell me what the 2 numbers above the green line to the right are.
Tina Williamson: RAM Status .... 251/334 ... no green line
_David M: Okay.
_David M: Do you have many messages or emails on the phone?
Tina Williamson: No, I constantly delete after reading afraid they may make it slower or shut down / freeze up more
_David M: Okay.
_David M: How about applications?
Tina Williamson: Words with friends .... afraid of the same! : )

_David M: I am going to give you the steps to clear the system cache.
_David M: This will not delete your information.
_David M: If the phone is plugged into the charger or USB cable, unplug it.
Remove the battery.
Re-insert the battery.
Hold the Volume Up and Volume Down keys.
Press and hold the the Power key while continuing to hold both Volume keys.
Release the keys when the Samsung logo appears on the screen.
Press the Volume Down key to scroll to delete all cache data.
Press the Power key to select it.
Wait for a few seconds as the phone clears information.
Press the Power key to select reboot system now.
Wait as the phone restarts.
Tina Williamson: I have not been able to enjoy this phone as I did others like the MyTouch because Im afraid to download anything and save anything ... Its basically a call , text occasionally type deal
Tina Williamson: Ok .... Cause I retore to factory about every 3-4 days!

_David M: Have you tried removing the SD Card, and using it without that for a day or 2?
Tina Williamson: Yes ....tried the 72 hour approach, also new sim & sd card

Tina Williamson: So what do you suggest? I really wish they hadnt changed me from my MyTouch to this phone! : (
Tina Williamson: Yes, purchased a new one from local store when I got the new sd & sim
_David M: If it were me, I would use your Full Upgrade Discount and get a Samsung Android phone.
Tina Williamson: I feel I have tried effortlessly to rectify before getting to the point of a considering a new carrier. I realize Im eligible for an upgrade but Im affraid I will possibly go through this again! : (
Tina Williamson: And be in a contract even longer, PLEASE give me a direction OUTSIDE of upgrading!
Tina Williamson: Is there not another phone that can be exchanged laterally?
Tina Williamson: Isnt this a Samsung Android?
_David M: I was thinking it was LG, but that is a Samsung. I have a Vibrant and have not had any issues with it, this is not typical of a Samsung device.
Tina Williamson: Unfortunately I got very aggravated when I went onto the "community" site and started reading all the problems and posts re: this phone .... Its rediculous! Does Samsung know the problems?
Tina Williamson: Please understand, frustrations are NOT been vented or directed at you, just looking for a resolution!
_David M: I understand completely, believe me I am not taking this personal at all. The part I am taking personal is that I can not resolve this.
Tina Williamson: Can you give me any directions as far as reaching out to comeone up the ladder that may be able to help or approve an exchange in product?
_David M: I pulled up the exchange form and there are no alternate devices offered for the Sidekick 4G.
